Of course, the Healey Campaign wrote a nice little note to the MDP in response to Reilly’s ad stating that the MDP should file an ethics complaint against Reilly, unless they decide not to be hypocrites and pull the complaints against Healey. Now it’s hard for me to admit that a Republican has a point, but come on, they do. It was a good defensive/offensive (however you wanna look at it) maneuver to bring out the complaint against Healey, but now it just looks bad on both ends.
But, I do love (sarcasm) the Party’s response to the Healey camps ultimatum. Cyndi Roy of the Democratic Party states: “I’m glad that Kerry Healey and her campaign are paying such close attention to our candidates . . . Maybe she’ll pick up a few things along the way.”
I know its supposed to be taken as kind of a F-U response. But, she dissed (yes, I used the word dissed) the Democratic Party in her response as well. These are just some little things I noticed that bugged me. First of all of course Republicans are watching our candidate’s ads like hawks. We all know this. Secondly, yeah I guess they did pick a thing or two up along the way; now they know they can stick the state insignia in any political ad they choose to, because we did it too. They tested the limits and now are probably going full out come September. Lastly, shouldn’t the Democratic party be watching all its candidates like hawks to make sure this stuff doesn’t happen?
Anyway, feel free to comment – shout, yell, bitch, tear my points apart, or maybe even agree in true BMG style.

This post would have been much improved, without the rude and pointless concluding remark.

which is why I removed the part at the end. Though I’m glad Frank recognizes his role :p

these people who should have responded right away to the clear cut violation by Lt. Governor Kerry Healy. No response after several weeks? No wonder other campaigns figure no one is watching the store. What’s taking the the State Ethics Commission so long? If Reilly’s in violation, so be it, it appears he is.

It was a Reilly campaign move and had nothing to do with the Democratic Party, other than the fact that a Democrat did it.

This post is at best and unproductive at worst. It’s something I’d expect on a Republican site, really.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with being critical of my party. And I think they did not handle the situation well. Period.

And I was critical of both Reilly & the state party.

This is how this story is playing to the average voter:

“The two major parties are issuing dueling press releases on the extremely minor offense of displaying state seals for fractions of a second in a TV ad while the Big Dig crumbles, my school district lays off 4 teachers and I don’t have health insurance.”

And we wonder why so many voters have chosen to check out of the process altogether.
