Here’s the header on Jon Keller’s blog today:
“Poll Shows TV Blitz By Gabrieli, Reilly Paying Off”
Anything wrong with a for-profit company that benefits from selling ads to candidates doing polling? Just asking.
Buy our ads, your numbers will go up, and we’ll poll to prove it!
Please share widely!

I’m sure Gabrieli’s $15.36 million bid weeks ago had the execs at local stations crowing, “Ka-ching!”

I’d like to trust that they’ll conduct the poll in the proper manner and at least report the findings as-is.

Keller’s spin, on the other hand, is a bit misleading. Yes, the numbers moved, but hardly in a dramatic way. If this is the only movement Gabs and Reilly can get from their media blitz, then they’ll be in even more trouble once Patrick gets into the TV game as well.

“Duh” is my most often critique – and it applies here as well.

OF COURSE huge media ads like Reilly and Gabs have purchased lately are going to move their numbers up. In fact, one would think they’d have gone up higher. Indeed, I’d suspect both have spent a solid half a million bucks over the past week or so – at least – considering all I’m seeing is there ads (and I’ve watched a lot of TV this week, which is unlike me).

If anything, the headline should have been, “Polls Show Candidates’ Ads Inneffective, Millions Spent Yet Polls Barely Budge.”

I really can’t wait to see what happens when Deval gets into his campaign ads; I’m really looking forward to it. He’s STILL the candidate with the smallest name recognition and hasn’t put money in TV yet at all (despite probably at least $4 million – likely more – having already been spent – 3.2 of which was in June by Gabs) yet is winning the race.

which is all I’d want on Sept 20
