Howie Carr has penned another vitriol-filled column today. (Geez, does this guy like anyone?) And, as is sometimes the case, it contains some grains of truth.
His point: when your boss is running for president, it can be really tough to turn the spotlight on your campaign for governor.
A few months ago, some people were suggesting that maybe Mitt ought to resign and give his lieutenant governor, Muffy Healey, a chance to strut her stuff before the election. To which Mitt reportedly responded, I spent $6 million for this job and Im going to keep it till the end.
Did you notice how, at the morning press conference, Mitt named everyone around him on the stage except one person, the one he mentioned last, the lieutenant governor.
Poor Muffy. Gov. Clark Kent forgot to acknowledge her by name [maybe he was momentarily unsure whether her name was Kerry or Sherry. –ed.]. No wonder Lt. Gov. Lois Lane cant get any traction in the governors fight. Superman wont let her out from under his cape….
Someone tried to ask Mitt about the Big Dig, and he answered, but his heart clearly wasnt in it. That was yesterdays comic strip. Then the press conference was over, and Mitt made his way briskly out of Room 156. He exchanged pleasantries with several of his minions, but not his lieutenant governor.
Lois Lane still gets no respect.
Poor Sherry.

As a Superman fan, I’m offended by the reference.

Do you see THIS Superman fighting for ‘truth, justice, and…all that?..’ they way Frank Langella as Perry White asked in the atrocious movie from this summer?

However, Howie’s second guess is better – he really IS Dudley Do-Right. AND THAT’S NOT SUCH A BAD THING!!!!!!

And the column made me laugh out loud.

…and as President of the REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION, he needs to get one elected HERE first?

Y’know, I knew Jane, and was a Healy (as opposed to Rappaport) delegate. I laugh at those of you who say we had no intense primaries! One reason that I WAS for Healey was that I tried to envision Jim sitting quietly and allowing Mitt to put forth an idea with which he disagreed, and then PROMOTING it as would be his job if he were Lt. Gov. – or at least remain mum. Imagination failed – especially the remaining mum part.

Kerry has been very loyal to Mitt, and has done a good job for him. In 2002, do you think being Local Aid liason and getting to go to town halls across the Commonwealth was a PLUM ASSIGNMENT? To be a political human shield? But she did it, did it well and conscientiously, and has shown class and loyalty.

She deserves return on that better than – oh, yeah, her.

Part of me feels really bad she’s being treated the way she is. She’s a weak candidate, for sure, but I really only think it’s because she’s stale and certainly has bad timing.

However, be that as it may, it’s not like I could possibly vote for her. She’d be bad for Massachusetts.

It all just goes to show you though – where politicians loyalty lies: their own god damn selves. Greedy bastards. Funny too, because Willard will NEVER be elected President for myriad reasons. Oh to be Willard when he’s called a Massachusetts Liberal or a liberal for Taxxachusetts. I can’t wait for the Republican Primary for President: the healthcare proposal alone could be the kiss of death in a Repug primary (just imagine it: “Mitt Romney is for Universal Healthcare and no consumer choice, would you want him to be the next President? He’s a liberal Taxachussets – will you trust him with your pocketbooks?” ROFL!
