What is going to come of this race. With two opponents in the Primary, it will be interesting to see if Owens (a career candidate) and Cruz(a relative unknown except for the occasional campaign poster you see around) have enough of a supporter base to even pose a threat.
As for Althea Garrison, well…that is a mixed bag. Many people joke about her “personal” choices, and some argue that she is a hypocrite for running as a Republican and not showing any party loyalty. But, you cannot downplay her drive, being a one person campaign machine. I have seen her, as many of probrably heard before, walking by herself through the district campaigning. She is driven and passionate about what she does.
I see this in the end being a victory for Marie St. Fleur. Aside from things occuring in her personal life that the press distastefully plastered all over TV news and the web, she continues to hold strong and is out there campaigning. I give her much credit to be able to do it all amist all the controversy. I think that will resonate through her district and she will pull off a victory on Sept. 19 and in the election on Nov. 7!
then Marie St. Fleur can survive her recent troubles.

Many people have had money troubles – especially working folks who live in the city. And as for her husband, he has repeatedly said that they are separated and that he is sorry about whatever harm he may have caused her and her efforts to get re-elected.

She will bounce back. And when she does, I hope she re-considers her position on charter schools! They do not outperform traditional public schools and they are re-segregating American public schools (see: Harvard Civil Rights Project).

Keep your chin up Marie!
