This is really pretty cool. The Patrick campaign has collected a whole bunch of video from speeches, issue statements, messages to supporters, and other sources, on a new website that it calls “Deval Patrick TV” (the URL is www.devalpatrick.tv). Also, the campaign has announced that its first television advertising, scheduled to hit the airwaves later this week, will be released on DPTV first (supposedly on Thursday).
At least on my computer, the quality of the video was impressive, and it loaded very quickly. Ah, broadband, where would we be without you? It’s also got a very fancy user interface, and allows you to permalink to video, email videos, subscribe to RSS, and other internet goodness. Mmmm….tasty….
Interesting footnote: the internet suffix of the new site, the supercool “.tv”, was originally owned by the Pacific island nation of Tuvalu. In 1998, Tuvalu sold the “.tv” suffix to a Canadian company, which has since been marketing .tv domain names to anyone who wants the hippest suffix on the internet. Tuvalu continues to reap the benefits: $50 million guaranteed over 10 years, plus a 15% stake in the company.

“Empower” being my favorite word from the 1990s. “Extreme” being my least favorite, making me extremely glad “extreme” is nowhere to be found on the website.

Love that video from the convention. Favorite quote from Congressman McGovern:

I’m excited about this campaign, I’m inspired about this campaign.

Me too, Congressman McGovern, me too.
