Does anyone know the date, time and network of the upcoming Sept. 7 gubernatorial debate? I’m trying to figure out whether it will be on a channel we get in Berkshire County, and whether it will be worth organizing a debate watching party.

My understanding is that it will be broadcast by a consortium of stations with the idea being that it will be seen throughout the state.

And that it was intentionally scheduled for a night on which the Red Sox don’t play — there should be plenty of bars that would welcome a bit of extra business on such a night and would be willing to feature the Debate in exchange for a few screaming and thirsty customers…

The NFL season kicks off that night, so I would suspect the debate will still take a backseat to the screaming and thirsty crowd. Now for those of us who are thirsty screaming football fans with an addiction to politics, I suppose there’s always the VCR. (Or is that “…thirsty screaming politics fans with an addiction to football?” I get so confused…)

It’s the only sport most Bay Staters are paying attention to after this weekend.

You think the Sox have problems? How about the Pakistani cricket team being invited to go home before their test was over?
