Kerry Healey – Out of Touch points us to this defection from Team Reform: Republican State Committe member Tom Ciula. The article’s a gold mine of quotes. He sounds like one of the Dem Three (and in fact, seems to endorse Reilly):
As a former [Everett] city councilor, [Ciulla] said he was “dismayed by the lack of concern and attention given to struggling cities and towns. Unresponsive and absentee leadership were an embarrassment to all of us who helped elect this Republican team.”
… Ciulla said that Healey has made the rounds of cities and towns during her tenure as lieutenant governor, but that she is simply “the bearer of bad news,” telling communities how the state is “slashing your budgets and increasing your taxes.”
… “They’re not like Tom Reilly, a working-class guy. His kids went to public schools. He’s kind of a down-to-earth guy. You talk to these people,” he said of Romney and Healey, “and they’re on a different planet.”
Awesome. Everyone got their talking points now?
- Romney was an absentee governor.
- Healey is out of touch, “on a different planet.”
- Healey did little to advocate for cities and towns, in spite of her vaunted position as “liaison” to municipalities.
- They cut services and raised taxes. (That last one’s a good one. Lather, rinse and repeat.)
- … And if you like, Reilly’s a normal guy.*
And that’s from a Republican!
*(Substitute Deval/Chris Horatio Alger stories freely.)

I like him personally, but feel obliged to point out that he served less than one half of one term on the State Committee, and freely admitted (at least to me) that it wasn’t what he expected at all, and he didn’t like it. He hasn’t attended a meeting in over a year. I tried leaving him messages to go get a cup of coffee together, but he hasn’t returned my calls.

He didn’t SEEM to endorse Reilly, he went to work for his campaign

If this is Bernie Green since that is the only person to call me.
You called to pump me for information to see what I was doing. Just so you could run back and tell Kerry what was going on. I caught you off gaurd. I was never going to organize city and town committees for the absentee leadership of Gov Romney and Lt. Gov Kerry Healey.
Why should I give them bodies to use for their campaign when they destroyed our party by only worrying about their campaigns when they should have helped people like you, as well as Councilman. Selectmen, and School committee members.
Thats how you grow a party.
I belive in the two party system and look forward to helping who I want too Republican or Democrat. You know I love a good campaign.

For the record – Kerry is NOT out of touch.

What expectation of privacy should a State House employee using State House resources to work on a blog that advocates against a candidate have? It is my understanding that this is illegal and I feel perfectly justified being nosey.

but I don’t see how the images you posted show that the blog was being updated from the State House. Doesn’t it just show that there was a visitor to the blog on a Comm. of MA computer? Feel free to point out what I’m missing.

Well, the IP address does seem to be associated with the Commonwealth; a whois search on 146.243.45 brings the info below. But I see no indicationt hat it’s the State House–the commonwealth has servers all over, and that screenshot indicated that it was from Medford. So I’m guessing that you “busted” a state worker, not an office-holder or aide.
