Another point of difference between LG candidates appears to have opened, according to the Cape Cod Times. Andrea Silbert has come out in support of Cape Wind. Deb Goldberg has announced her opposition. (Murray is waffling: no position yet, according to the newspaper). Add this to the list of LG position differences compiled at the beginning of the month by David.
UPDATE (by David): Since there has been some confusion regarding Tim Murray’s position on Cape Wind (see the comments), I asked for clarification. This is from Scott Ferson, Murray’s spokesman:
Tim has not endorsed the Cape Wind project. He hasnt opposed it, but wishes to see the regulations as determined by [the Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service]. The Globe editorial board asked him the same question, and then asked if he would be supportive if the process endorsed it, and he said he would. This has been his consistent response through-out. We did not get a call from the Cape Cod reporter on this.

what will the dynamics look like if we have
DP/Gabs & Goldberg?
Reilly (against IIUC) & Silbert?

As an undecided, this is a major mark against Murray. Don’t know why he’s so weak on this one.

I was so tossed up about who to vote for in the LG race, but when push came to shove I voted Andrea Silbert (yes, I already voted).

If I had voted for Goldberg and found out this after the fact, I’d have been very, very upset.

Murray’s campaign manager was specifically asked this question and said that Murray supports Cape Wind.

Because Murray was solidly undecided on Cape Wind during the May debate in Lowell (they talk about it about halfway thru)

His position has not changed since the May debate.

Scott Ferson, spokesman
Murray campaign

Thanks, Scott. I personally think he should take a position. I support Andrea, I think that is pretty clear, but I like Tim a too and I don’t see how waffling on this issue gains him much. But, then again, what do I know, and I guess waffling is better than a solid pro-global warming and anti-clean air position like Goldberg’s (who, incidentally, as I recall from Janet Wu’s incisive debate questioning, admitted that she drove a gas guzzler; maybe she figures the poor people will drown first).

Andy – don’t know where you got this info, but it’s not correct. As Scott Ferson, Tim Murray’s spokesman, posted upthread, Murray has not taken a firm position for or against the Cape Wind project.

My information came from Murray’s campaign manager. I fully admit that it is likely I misheard what he said and apologize because I certainly am not trying to start any rumors or be the source of incorrect info.
