Current numbers (this will be the last update): with 97.99% reporting, it’s Lamont 51.79% (144,005 votes), Lieberman 48.21% (134,026 votes).

  1. Interesting to watch the crowds (I know a lot of the people in the Lamont camp).  Reminds me of past parties.  Many of the people I see at the Lamont event were in Lieberman’s camp many years ago.  Go Ned!!!

    I’m making calls tomorrow to all the CT legislators I know to support Ned and discourage Joementum’s effort to run as an indie.  He’s cooked.  They have known that for a long time.  Tradition and history no longer have any meaning. 

  2. Don’t forget that cities usually report their numbers last, and Lieberman is expected to do well there.

    I’d also look at Fairfield County — while Lamont is from Fairfield County, it tends to be more moderate/conservative than the rest of CT, so if they haven’t reported much yet, I’d bet Lieberman is due for a bump.

    • has hovered in the 7K range since 50%.  Unless there’s really something funky (that he can capture 65% of the remaining vote??) in the remaining 15% of precincts, it’s possible Lamont will hold on about where he is.  Cautious optimism here v. defensive pessimism.

  4. No precinct from Harford has reported yet.  That’s bad for Lamont.  On the other hand, rumors say turnout in Hartford was lower than the suburbs.

    Our internal numbers show Lamont up 13K votes with over 80% reporting, so I’m starting to feel confident.

      1. presumably, the closer the margin, the more likely joementum runs as an independent, yes?

      if he loses 56 to 44, then it reads as a whupping, and he knows he loses some of his 44 on the “sore loser” issue.

      2. i don’t prefer lamont to lieberman on a number of issues, but when i’ve heard lamont speak, i liked his tone and directness; and when i heard lieberman recently, he’s come across as almost shockingly annoying.

      thus….when he concedes tonight, will joe do so gracefully (“My opponent fought a great campaign, I congratulate him…”) or crankily (“Politics is a tough support, as my website staff learned today, but I am heartened by the support of so many….”)?

        • Having lived in CT for most of my life and having witnessing many Holy Joe’s moments, it should be a great show.
