And that is the perfect opportunity to offer your services (if needed), to help win in November. Unity has never been more important.
In addition, I’m interested in taking my blogging advocacy to new venues in order to reach the undecided, as I wonder, if it is too limiting to remain just at BMG(?), no offense. So I’m open to suggestions on that front.
Just in case you missed my point:
I wholeheartly endorse Deval Patrick and Tim Murray for Governor and Lt. Governor. I will do everything in my power to help, where ever and when ever I can.
After all is said and done, I believe Deval Patrick is a better candidate because of the dynamics of the three way race. Both Tom Reilly and Chris Gabrieli’s presence in the race led to sharpening and refining Deval’s message. I was encouraged by the gracious concessions and especially the inclusionary acceptance speech of Deval’s.
Having said all of that, I also worry we are in danger of underestimating Kerry Healey’s and the Republican Party’s ability to put Deval through the ringer.
As I did the–exceptional–graciousness of Chris Gabrieli last night. I’ve been on the other end before, and I know what a bummer it is. It makes me all the more appreciative.

After 16 long years, it’s time to take it to those…well, I can’t find a fitting word that doesn’t violate BMG protocols. But I’m glad this virtual community will be coming together for a common cause.
Thank you for being so gracious. I think you will get a very warm reception with your message. I think it’s important for everyone to get the message out to any place possible. This race just became national. It’s a huge success story. It’s historical. We were there when…

I just moved to NC, and I’ve been talking up this race to all who will listen. People are interested in how to change the status quo. Deval has set a great example. He is proof positive that grassroots, netroots and getting people involved again gets results. This is the example to use in the 50 state strategy that Howard Dean advocates. Yee haw!!!!
… being the operative word!
I hope not too many people needed the stern lecture part of the post. I know I didn’t. It was hard to be bitter, or even too unhappy, after Chris’s speech and especially after seeing him on stage with Deval.
<

Also, Chris gave us a powerful motivation, if we needed it, to work to defeat the GOP, when he talked about Healey’s attack ad and how it not only was far below the belt but also exploited stem cell research, an issue with personal ramifications for many.
<
p>
Still, this being the first campaign I’ve spent much personal effort on, it was pretty deflating at the end. But it wasn’t for nought. Aside from helping make the race more issue-oriented and sharpening Deval’s skills, the Gabrieli campaign got me involved in the process. If Deval’s campaign was in part defined by its ability to bring many people in in this way, then that’s something I feel a part of already.

So consider me just switching flavors of Kool-Aid. But I’m not wearing no lime green t-shirt. Here’s an idea. What if you used red on white, in the Red Sox font, with a big number “51” on the back… (ducking to avoid rotten fruit).
with Chris will be SO very important to the unity effort now.

I was thinking about this last night…we started here for Deval in my town with very few veteren activists, least of all me (though I’ve organized for non-Democratic volunteer efforts in the peace group I’m in, with other local groups, etc). Now, we have all been tested and tried, made mistakes, learned a lot, and go into the general a little wiser and experienced. I’m not saying we’re experts now by any stretch, but we are in way better shape than we started out with.

I don’t have any fruit in my house, I’ve barely done any grocery shopping to speak of lately, I don’t really have much except cans of fruit, which I think will hurt too much, so I’ll refrain. đŸ˜‰
Comes in Blue and White as well. The green is a bit much for me too. I gave mine away and hope to pick up a blue one shortly. Much more visually appealing.
I truly appreciate your post, your efforts and your candidate’s graciousness after a disappointing night.

I hope as you’re working to elect the Democratic nominee this November, you’ll come to appreciate the Patrick campaign as one that includes many if not all of the issues important to you. I don’t agree with all of his positions either, and that’s OK. I do agree on the basic premise that we want to work for a better future, that we want to care about others as well as ourselves, and that we are SICK AND TIRED of negative, divisive and cynical politics.
<

I suspect if the situation was reversed, it might have taken me more than a few hours to get over the disappointment before moving on and looking toward November. I admire you for being able to bounce back so quickly and think of a greater goal here. Thank you.

Thank you for your gracious words, RM…

Trust me, anyone willing to offer their services will be welcomed with open arms. We’ll need all the help we can get, the next 7 weeks are going to be bruisers.

There’s the crux of the matter, isn’t it? Taking it offline and into your neighborhood is the key.

I do have a suggestion…one of the things we need to come out strong early with is the idea of Dem unity, no divide and conquer here…so what about a good letter to the editor of your local paper talking about how you supported a different candidate but are ready to work for Deval now that he’s the nominee? The quicker we can get that word out the better. Hell, just use parts of this post!!
We haven’t often agreed in these pages, but I’m glad we’re on the same side now. I really appreciate your graciousness AND your warning that these next few weeks will be very hard.
