AG Tom Reilly’s first debate was summed up nicely by the Boston Globe editorial cartoon the day after the first debate. Titled “The Big Dig?” it showed Gabrieli and Patrick looking on as Reilly dug himself into a hole with his attacks on both opponents.
Deval Patrick, now the (temporary?) frontrunner seemed to be sweating in the first debate and in the second, seemed to be saying “look at me, I’m insecure.” Several times he seemed to be frustrated that people weren’t listening to him. NEWS FLASH: This is a common debate tactic used to annoy the opposition. Question: If he can’t keep his cool with Tom Reilly and Chris Gabrieli, how is he going to keep it with Lt. Governor Kerry Murphy Healey? Won’t she be pushing his buttons left and right?
So if you are seriously interested in changing from the failures of the last sixteen years of failed leadership in the corner office, VOTE Tuesday for the calm and collected guy that sat there and took it all without breaking a sweat.
That is the kind of leadership Massachusetts needs when a Emergency hits our state.
Personally I can’t tell you how many times Deval Patrick supporters have expressed their own insecurity when told I’m not supporting their candidate.
A typical conversation goes like this: Me: Who you with? Them: Deval. Me: OK, I’m with Gabrieli… Them: pause followed by, “we gotta all get behind one candidate” ok. Why don’t we just respect each other’s choice? Their Attitude: Not GOOD ENOUGH. NO WAY, major problems if you don’t switch to Deval.
