The ever-mysterious Ben, the proprietor of Romney is a Fraud whose missives, sadly, only rarely grace the blogosphere these days, has weighed in on the matter of the Democratic primary.
His choice: Chris Gabrieli.
Gabs, he says, is a decent guy who has done well in business, has given back in the form of his work with Mass. 2020 and elsewhere, and can beat Kerry Healey.
One key question, though, remains unanswered: how will the editorial staff of the competing Healey is a Fraud react?

The pre-eminent Boston paper, the Boston rag, and…Ben? No sir, we won’t be calling that even.
A well reasoned, well written, logical political analysis. My hats off to He Who Must Be Obeyed. He who has done more than anyone to prove Romney is a Fraud. He who has left an Op Research Goldmine to take the Fraud Down in 2008…

Deval Patrick has the Boston Globe, Tom Reilly the Herald and the premier Massachusetts political scribe Ben comes back from his retreat to endorse Gabrieli.

I find it ironic that the master of political and character analysis has selected the candidate best positioned to beat Kerry Healey on the first Tuesday in November.

Massachusetts: Get up off your knees!!! They’re not laughing anymore! Time to vote for new leadership! Vote early and often for Chris Gabrieli. Countdown is now at 7 days… standby for further instructions

Do the new Gabrieli radio ads exist online somewhere? I just checked his site and don’t see them, but I’m hearing they hit the radio yesterday…?
The Boston Herald, Springfield Republican, and Cape Cod Times! Enough to challenge “Ben?” Maybe. . .just maybe!
My view is the Herald, first and foremost, endorsed Reilly because he’d be the easiest guy for Healey to beat. If he won, they’d still turn around and endorse Healey in the General, but of course, he’s not going to win. If he stays somewhat competitive that helps Deval, if he completely tanks it helps Gabrieli.
and the Springfield Republican endorsed Tom Reilly just because he grew up there. . .and the Cape Cod Times endorsed Tom Reilly just because of Cape Wind. . .

Sorry, but at some point, the excuses will run thin, folks.
I don’t know if your statement is accurate. In my opinion, DP is an easy target for Healey. All she needs to do is label him a tax and spender. He will have no come back because that is what he is proposing to do. I am not saying that this is bad, I may even vote for him next Tuesday although I am leaning slightly towards Gabs.
That’s already the line that Tom Reilly’s taken against DP, and Deval’s managed to rebut it perfectly well (e.g., property tax cuts, Republicans’ hidden fees and surcharges, etc.)
I say this with a straight face: I hope you realize that Patrick’s rebuttal is not especially strong. It is an answer, but not necessarily a highly effective one.
the only population his arguments have been tested on are democrats- not to mention the most tax friendly ones in the Union.
Far easier to run as a tax and spender in the Dem primary than in the General. Reilly’s criticism of Patrick’s priorities is falling by the wayside as it has a relatively small (and unsympathetic) audience in September.
This is in a three person race where Gabs is taking a significant portion of the vote. In the general election, DP won’t have that luxury and “fiscally conservative” Dems may simply hold their nose and vote Healey.

This is my biggest fear in voting for DP. Then again, we played it safe in ’04 with Kerry, and look where that got us.
But that is just me. At least with Healey we know what we will get. More scared of Deval being a rogue – at least with Healey we know what we will get!
The papers we’ve all been talking about have endorsed candidates because…. of the reasons they wrote about? Is that so unlikely?
Yes MavDem your list looks about right to me!

Look, I know these aren’t the easiest days to be a Reilly booster and I appreciate what you bring to BMG.
Grady Little has endorsed Tom Reilly. So when you combine Grady with the Herald, the collective endorsement beats Ben by about 15% (MOE = +/-4.5%).
