Just when we thought we were done with polls, there’s one last Channel 4 poll, conducted by Survey USA, which shows Deval Patrick leading by a couple of lengths as they approach the finish line.
682 likely Democratic primary voters. Poll conducted Sept. 15-17, 2006. MOE: +/- 3.8%. Confidence: 95%. More on interpreting the MOE. Results from last Survey USA poll conducted a week ago in (parens).
Patrick: 46% (45%). Net change: +1%
Gabrieli: 29% (29%). Net change: 0
Reilly: 22% (21%). Net change: +1%
Undecided: 3% (4%). Net change: -1%
Here’s Keller on his station’s latest numbers:
If this and other comparably-trending recent surveys are to be believed, you have the outlines of a remarkable campaign performance….
If you know anything about the history of local polling, you know that statistical distortions can occur. And I can assure you the folks over at Patrick headquarters are taking nothing for granted. Still, the surveys and polls suggest that a total political unknown with a huge financial disadvantage has walked in here and put himself in position to pull off one of the great upsets in modern Massachusetts political history.
He’s right. Don’t let the current “frontrunner” labels fool you – this guy was never supposed to win, and there’s lots left to do. If you want this upset to happen, make it happen.
I can’t believe there’s another poll, but I thought the Suffolk one seemed suspect. I’m not going to take it for granted though. I want Deval to win with 50% + tomorrow!

I’m exhausted. I think I’m going to crash and sleep for three days straight after this thing is over. LOL
I spent a good part of the day yesterday phone banking and today with general handyman chores around our make-shift Lowell HQ for Deval followed by visibility at a very busy intersection during evening rush hour. Tomorrow I will be up bright and early to hold signs outside polling places and make more phone calls. I have most of my family also involved tomorrow. And I’m not alone in Lowell. This is considered Reilly Country especially since our US Rep Marty Meehan is TR’s Honorary Campaign Chair but I have my fingers crossed that even here we will pull it off! The response has just been too good to be true!
Ed King will be in my prayers this evening.

Interesting that this Reagan Dem should pass away a day before THIS primary which Keller says could be one of the greatest upsets in modern MA history.

God speed Ed King.

Just one last reminder to anyone working for DP who isn’t asleep already…Please, please, PLEASE….TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED TOMORROW! Operate under the assumption that we’re running last and looking for the big comeback win!

If no one rests on their laurels tomorrow, we can win this!!!
My sister just had back surgery in CA. I’m about to miss my second day of school, and I haven’t updated my blog since… I can’t even remember when. I’m just too damn antsy.

We did a stand out here today in Townsend. The little red purple pocket of Middlesex Co.

We got one flip off (w-h-a-t-e-v-e-r…) two thumbs down and some polite attempts not to make eye-contact, but there was more than a fair amount of honks. Mind you, not Groton-stand-out style HONKITY, HONK, HONK, but very enthusiastic beep-beeps. Lots of smiles and wave backs and one lady in a pick-up truck stopped and asked if we had any lawn signs to spare — you betcha we gave her one. It gave me a happy feeling.

Ugh – must sleep.

Hey, everyone. Yeah, I don’t care who your candidate is. Good luck tomorrow. No matter who wins (and you know I want my guy to) it’s the beginning of the end of the Republican strangle-hold. Let’s all kick some ass out there tomorrow, huh?
