A writer at Dkos discovered that the key that locks the memory port access is the same lock used on DEC Vax computers of Maynard fame.
Having been a Vax systems manager, I probably had two or three of those keys at one point and I’ll bet a few are still hanging around in desk drawers (you might even be able to find some in the pond next to DEC’s old HQ in Maynard đŸ™‚

Coincidentally, I am right now working on a post for johnbonifaz.com on how Bill Galvin is considering two touchscreen voting machines, including the Diebold AccuVote TSX, for Massachusetts. He’s been “considering” those two, plus that Automark, all year, missing the federal deadline for complying the law on disability access (the deadline was January 1, 2006).

Bonifaz has said on many occasions that he wouldn’t consider Diebold, because their software is proprietary & secret, and because they don’t allow the public to fully own the machines and the data.
