One interesting point, It looks like the Frias family, nearly every member, has given at least $500 to Healey.
In case you didn’t know it, Frias is the “F” in F+S Concrete. F+S is something like the 10th or 12th largest concrete contractor in the country. They did Gilette Stadium and the new Boston Convention center.
Now I wonder, how come so many Frias’s are Healey supporters? Does party run in the family? Or is Daddy Frias thanking those who tipped the Convention center or Foxborough in his direction by directing his family’s donations?
It certainly makes me wonder.
Please share widely!
On the local level often have a m/patriarch who feels strongly for one side or the other. His/her contributions are spread throughout the family, so the person in essence gives out thousands of dollars to the candidate, albeit under different names.

Illegal? Heck yeah. Common practice? You bet.
and unprovable no doubt…

I had no idea the practice was so common, but now it seems obvious.

A perfect example of why we need to go to public funding of campaigns.

I can argue that Foxboro being a private project is not a big deal that Frias won the work but the Convention center is a public project and the winning bidder happens to be a large republican donor in the state… hmm
and the Cellucci family is very prominent and well-connected there-and had been for decades before Paul became governor (the I-290 connector there is named for his father, “Junior” Cellucci). I’d be odd if they were the only well-off, politically active Republicans in town.
it was cool for a time to have the gov. from Hudson but he abandoned us for Canada. Now it appears Paul is back in town but I haven’t run into him yet.

Argeo just died last summer but the town will be forever grateful for the 290/495 connector. It made DEC then Intel possible…
This is a dumb question, but this is a story I’ve heard from lots of people and have no idea if it’s true.

I have friends in Hudson, longtime residents, who say that the Celluccis had anglicized the pronunciation of their name somewhere along the way to appear less “ethnic” by pronouncing the “cc” at the end of the name as an “s.” When Paul Cellucci started running for office, however, he decided he would pronounce the “cc” as a “ch” in order to get the ethnic vote. Do you know if this is this true?
Sorry, he’s always been ch but I have heard the cc pronounced “s” a few times.

I’ve “only” lived here 16 years đŸ™‚
“s” would have predated your residency. I am going back back at least 20 years or so.
Not really. Hudson has voted Democrat except when a favorite son (Paul Cellucci)runs. Frias has big bucks and is used to getting his own way. What I would be more interested is why all the big democratic Deval backers in town don’t come up with the $$$ to help Deval?
