Congratulations to Joe Early Jr. for a decisive victory in the Democratic primary to succeed John J.Conte who is stepping down as DA after more than 30 years in office.
This is an important development for the Benjamn LaGuer case, which many of you know I’ve been tracking on BMG.
There is no Republican in the race so in a few months Early will be taking the oath of office and will be in a position to cast some much needed sunshine on behind-the-scenes machinations that led to this travesty of justice.
I’ll be posting more on this. One thing to keep in mind is that the current inhabitants of that office are on notice that on September 24, 2002 a Superior Court judge issued a permanent order to “PRESERVE ALL DOCUMENTS CONNECTED WITH (LAGUER’S) CASE”. Use this link to read the order.
If the next administration finds that this order was violated in any way, that is very serious stuff.
Early says he aims to bring a new era of openness to the Worcester DA’s office, and I trust that he will.
