John Keller took note of the Weekly Dig’s thoughts on kids in political ads.
The Dig misses a big part of it by lumping Cahill in with Gabs and everyone else who are bleeding non-creativity. Tim Cahill did not win because he had a commercial with his cute kid. He won because he had a nice catch phrase for people to remember. “Tim for Treasurer”. Sure it had a cute angle because his daughter thought of it. But it really worked when people were in the ballot booth going down the list of candidates for the less glamorous jobs. BINGO – Tim for Treasurer. Easy as pie.
Too bad Deval’s catch phrase, “Hope is a wonderful thing”, does not get votes in the ballot box like that. Oh wait. It does. Only for Gabs and Reilly. .
Alas, not in the Gabs or even Deval income bracket, but I still pay a bit in state taxes.

My question – exactly how much of my dough goes to pay for Tim For Treasurer’s NEVER ENDING POLITICAL AD BUY for the “unclaimed money” gig?

I would rather vote for GRACE ROSS than Tim for any higher office. His ad buy is so huge they sometimes interview him at Red Sox games DURING THE BROADCAST because he’s such a good supporter of WEEI. With taxpayer money.

What a scam.
This started under Weld with obscure state agencies. It flourishes today at the loterry, Massport, and some others I imagine.. Big media ad buys with a major sports team like the red sox and patriots. With these buys, which a premium is paid, brings tickets, parties, luxury box access, and all sorts of good stuff for the big shots to feel big.
