So I was walking around my ‘hood doing lit drops for Silbert (awesome response, BTW), and listened to the LG forum on my old-school walkman. Dorky, I know, but I fully admit to my illness.
Anyway, I felt both candidates were on their games today, and it really just left me feeling bad about what could have been. They were both smart and articulate, and compared to the way Deb Goldberg presents herself, well, there’s just no comparison.
If these two, Murray and Silbert, had been the only two candidates all along, this would have been a classic race, maybe even a baby Kerry/Weld race from 96. 2 smart people, 2 articulate people, 2 people with great ideas and track records.
I wish it had been just them all along.
Well done both.
Oh, and Goldberg was a clear loser here, although I’m sure the Globe won’t ignore her for not being there, and will probably print a separate photo of her tomorrow just to throw her a bone. But I loved it at the end when Phil Johnston said “it’s too bad they both can’t win”, which was code for “I hate Deb Goldberg and can’t bear the thought of her as the nominee.”

I was at the debate and I felt the same way. They each bring something different and exciting. I’m still a solid Silbert fan and think she has the right stuff to be a meaningful lt gov but I would be happy with Murray in the corner office if he gets the nomination.

Please no Deb, although she’s nice.

Regardless of what happens on Tuesday, it’s important to remember that we have two articulate and dedicated leaders. This should just be the beginning of long careers in public life for both of them and we should all work together to make sure they both stay at the forefront of our party.

And my candidate did me proud, too.

Shame on Deb Goldberg for not having the courage to face two superior candidates in the final stretch.

Goldberg’s Adoption Agency celebration was posted from Noon to 4 PM…it was only 20 minutes away from Framingham debate…surely she could have ducked out early to make it, instead she ducked the debate…on purpose. Shame on Deb.

David K/BMG and MetroWest Editor Lodge asked very astutue questions…Dahl from the Globe less so, but he really has not covered this race very much and it showed.

and I agree with your assessment. Both candidates did splendidly, as they so often have. And it was incredibly lame of Goldberg not to show, given that the schedule conflicts really wasn’t a conflict at all.

…I thought she had some award to either give or get with the adoption agency?

Frank..
The Adoption Agency event was from Noon until 4…a 4 hour event…she surely could have skipped out 20 minutes early from a 4 hour event…do you think her fans would have understood that she is running for Lt Gov, The Dem. Party is sponsoring the last debate before the election and you need to leave 20 minutes early to get there…

She ducked the debate. She had no intent to be there. Ed Jesser wanted her to sit on her TV ad avalanche and not give opponents any opportunity to question her about the truthfulness of her ad content…or be compared to them.

Just trying to bring out the point that Deb was less than honest with people, yet one more time.
