#1 on the Boston Globe City/Metro Section Kerry Healy 9/23 got a more favorable picture/postition and headline than Patrick today.
#2 on WRKO radio news. The hourly newreader Mary Blake is reporting the News at 6. In the middle of reading the news she breathlessly slips this in:
“Immigration is heating up as a campaign issue. Kerry Healy wants to get tough on immigrants that are here illegally. Deval Patrick favors in state tuition for illegal immigrants.”
This is inserted in the hourly news like it was news story. It is essentially a hidden defacto Kerry Healy Commercial.
Curious to see the Sunday Globe today.

Healy gets help from the Globe in defining the issues.

There were 2 big articles on the Governors race today. Both were defacto commercials for Kerry-Healy. One was on Immigrants and the other on crime both were spun to make Healy look tough.

So this is what Healy-Hillman are going to make the race about

The other thing is that the Globe is going to shill for her.

If someone on the Patrick-Murray campaign has any strong contacts at the Globe they need to nip the bias in the bud before it gets out of hand.

…when the Dem campaign starts pumping messages out first-strike (and not in response), as many here are urging, or after the first debate.

The Globe will report what they find out about, and Healy had the slingshot loaded before primary day. I just hope that if they’re as journalistically lazy (this is the source of most print media bias, not favoritism, IMHO) as they showed today, it works for us, too.

If the first debate goes as I think it will, the coverage will work in our favor. Maybe the campaign was planning towards that and afterwards, and after they get their feet, these few days will be forgotten.

You are absolutely right that laziness is the number one source of bias. In one of the Globe articles referenced above, entitled “Healey urges tougher stance on hiring illegal immigrants” there’s this little gem:

There’s no context, no facts about relative tax burdens or property tax rates- just a stand-alone inference that the benevolent Kerry is going to keep taxes low while the evil Deval will drive poor scallop-eating Kurt Wallat out of the state.
