A quick request to Daily Kos users who are backing Deval Patrick: if you have a sec, please head over to DKos and recommend this diary. I thought it seemed like a good day to call the Kossacks’ attention to next week’s primary.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Geez, what does it take over there to make the “recommended” list these days? The diary has 80 recommends, and nearly that many comments, yet it’s nowhere to be seen. *sigh* Anyway, if you haven’t recommended yet, give it a shot – maybe if we pick up a few more we’ll make the threshold.
Please share widely!
I thought you guys were anti-Kos!
it’s all about the eyeballs. And they have a lot of eyeballs over there!
For most of BMG, the love for Deval
wipes any hatred away and still conquers all
Kos, once an object of snark and of mirth,
Know must be used to serve our god on this earth,
This infallible man without mote or fault,
Who brings us the keys to the progressive Mass. vault.
Deval will lead us to a golden tomorrow,
And we question him at only our sorrow.
He’s the bestest there is in a state or a nation —
Forget those elections! Just hold a coronation!
But not becaue I agree with anything you say (you are wrong on all accounts) but because you exercised such a creative way to say “Kool-Aid drinkers!”
so much for hitting the stop button to edit!
But not becaue I agree with anything you say in the above poem but rather you get a 6 because you exercised such a creative way to say “Kool-Aid drinkers!”
I don’t agree with your sentiment, but your creativity deserves a 6, and you made me laugh!
It’s a flawed place, sure — but look how many cool BMG folk hang out there. It’s like the NYC of blogs — everything great, and everything lame, all mixed together.
Recommended. BTW, I’ve been canvassing for Deval in my precinct in Boston, and everyone seems to be either Patrick, undecided leaning Patrick, and only a small minority leaning Gabrieli. I’m feeling cautiously optimistic, although I worry about the Jimbob effect (that is, any candidate I support, loses). So far, so good though.
At this stage, you’re probably hitting a list of voters that’s been culled from months of phonebanking and canvassing. They started with a list of target voters more likely than the general population to support Deval, and by now, they’ve removed from the list anyone who said they’re leaning towards one of the other candidates. If you weren’t getting mostly likely Deval supporters by now, that’d be a bad sign (or, an unusual field program!)

The key now isn’t convincing people, it’s getting the leaning Deval people to lean further, and them plus the committed supporters more motivated, involved, and likely to vote (and tell their friends).
As far as I know — just people who haven’t been reached yet by anyone. I know, cause me and my wife were both on the same list before I signed up as a precinct captain. And yeah, definitely hammering those leaners.
Thanks David! Recommended and commented. Everyone else: don’t just recommend, comment. Other readers see the comment count go up and think that means this is a post people are interested in… which in fact it does 🙂

P.S. David, wanna post one for Bonifaz? We need the eyeballs more than Deval does.
I’ll cross-post our endorsement.
I can’t do it today – Kos has a one-a-day limit. If you want, feel free to cut and paste our endorsement on behalf of BMG, or I can do it tomorrow.
Better coming from you, both because it’s from your blog, and because we’re not paying you anything 🙂
There have been a few Kos discussions in the last day or two on Patrick that have gotten a little heated — buried well off the main page, but all tagged with ma-gov. After initial praise for Patrick, one or two folks appear (watch for “extratime40”) and bring up Killer Coke, call him a “corporate whore,” and say “real progressives” shouldn’t be supporting him.
it was on the recommended list for about 20 minutes. Scrolled off almost instantly. 🙁
It was on the recommended list!
Am I right to think that Independents can vote in the Dem primary?
Unerolled can vote on a Democratic ballot primary, but remember to ask to be put back to Unerolled status before you leave the poll. Otherwise you will be registere Democrat at the next election.
It follows that you can only vote in one primary per election, correct?
As in, one unenrolled voter could not vote in both the Republican and Democratic primaries?
You have to choose one ballot or the other. When you choose that ballot you are AUTOMATICALLY enrolled in that party. However you can request to uneroll at the check out table in your polling place before leaving.
Kos Recommended Diaries uses an algorithm involving the number of recommends a diary has and how recently those were made. That way new diaries can make it on to the list with fewer total recommends, and diaries that don’t continue to accumulate recommendations will sink off the list even though they have a greater total than the new ones.
<

Today’s been pretty busy with regard to recommendations: most of the Recommended Diaries seem to have approximately 120 to 150 recommends.
<

The number of comments generated is irrelevant, possibly because some troll diaries can spawn over a hundred comments (including recipes and the like), but precious few Recommends. This is supposed to be quality, not quantity, though the two can co-exist.

I’m surprised to read that your diary made it, however briefly, because the “Recommended” tag is supposed to be added automatically to all diaries that do make it. Maybe there’s a minimum time period to qualify for generation, or the software that adds that tag only checks every so often.
