Patrick/Murray pledge week rolls on — we’re trying to raise $1000 by Saturday (the end of the quarter). Here’s where to give.
Now, I’ve been torturing everyone with schlocky, PBS-pledge-week-type content — and I’m going to get right back to it — but this time we’re going with the Patrick campaign’s adopted theme song “Proud” by Heather Small:
Give now — and we’ll be back to the dreck soon!
Please share widely!

with that song. I downloaded it to my ipod and am lucky mp3s can’t wear out. I have my young daughters loving it too. My favorite part:

We need a change (YEAH)
Do it today (YEAH)
I can feel my spirit rising
We need a change (YEAH)
So do it today (YEAH)
‘Cause I can see a clear horizon

Time to give up some more dough. Thanks so much for the video.

It also is the inspiration for my favorite moment at the June Convention.

Background:

As a Senate District Coordinator, I was BEYOND busy at the convention. I didn’t get to watch much of anything. Didn’t get to see any of the LG speeches, and none of the Gov. speeches. I was on the phone or running up and down the stairs the. whole. time. Exhausting, I tell you. sco, I’m sure can back me up on this.

Until the end. I was just pooped and then it was announced that Deval had won the endorsement with 58% of the vote. He came out and gave a unifying, kick-ass, barn burner speech like he does, but the best part was the end. People were on their feet, the music was pumping and on the jumbo-tron there was Deval and by his side was Diane Patrick, clapping and singing along with the song, in fact, that very verse you posted. I looked across the seats in my senate district and saw not just Patrick supporters, but Gabrieli supporters and Reilly supporters standing and clapping along.

That was a day that made me feel Proud.

I was a delegate at Deval Night, too… err… this year’s MA Democratic convention. It my first state convention (I was at the DNC the night Barack spoke… symmetry, much?).

Just donated $135 to push your total to a cool, even $1,500.

Woot, woot!

As of noon Wednesday, the total on the BMG page is $1315. The pledge drive goal, as I understand, is to hit $1750 by the end of Saturday (the reporting deadline) so that there will be $1000 in this drive.

If you are so confident of Patrick that you don’t think he needs the money, there are many fine candidates in nearby states listed on the BMG ActBlue page. That now stands at $910 — we should certainly get it to $1000 by the reporting deadline and $1500 would be an entirely reasonable goal.

that the Patrick campaign doesn’t need the money. Kerry Healey has a HUGE funding advantage in this race. Patrick doesn’t need to match her spending to win, but he needs to stay competitive.
davemb says
Money to Patrick this week is very important because the amount reported raised by 30 September will help Healey decide how much of her own cash she’s going to dump on what might be a lost cause. (And money spent on Patrick ads is money well spent in influencing the MA political landscape in any case.) I had no intention of discouraging money for Patrick, just to remind people that there are other needy candidates out there as well. In-state or out-of-state, please do what you can!

Patrick BMG page still at $1315, ActBlue BMG page up to $1010…

Given how the race is likely to tighten, and given that Muffy’s set her spending cap at $15,000,000 (wonder where she got that idea…), complacency is the last thing we need. Deval needs dough, big time. And that’s why I’m writing: I think, David, that y’all have set your goal too low. Having done a bunch of fundraising for Deval out here in the Berkshires, I know it’s hard work, and not everyone can give, or give much–we’re Democrats, after all–but when I think of the volume of traffic on BMG, the tilt toward Deval among regulars, and the intensity of our commitment, I want to say to all BMG readers: it should be possible to vastly exceed the Gang of Three’s declared target. I just–sigh– agreed a few hours ago to be a co-sponsor for another fundraiser for the campaign, so, alas, I can’t be part of this particular income stream. But, BMG readers, do bear in mind the importance of our cause and then recall the adage, “Give until it hurts. Then give some more.”

would be that much greater, Charley, if you’d said, “Give now — or we’ll be back to the dreck soon!” It never hurts to hint at that iron fist inside your velvet glove.

I gave $100 yesterday, as an advance on the proposed BMG video, but am prepared to add another installment given the proper encouragement…
