Patrick will win the primary. He will win the primary because he has inspired Massachusetts voters like no other candidate, he has been building his field and GOTV since April 2005, and his loyal supporters will turn out at the polls on September 19th.
But brace yourself. Reilly will continue go negative because he is desperate and that’s all he knows. Just wait until the next debate. He will turn up the attack and smear because he is old inside politics. But Reilly will not get away with Swiftboating Patrick. What is his latest attack–accusing Patrick of not telling the truth on taxes? Please. Tommy, tell the truth on your flip flops on taxes. While you are at it, come clean on your willingness to settle with Big Dig contractors (as exposed by Mike Sullvan), and your campaign’s coordination with killer coke. Reilly will not rally because he is old politics.
Gabs can buy tv ads very well. But Gabs cannot buy a field organization and GOTV. He will try, as he has in the past, but he will fail, again.
Gabs will continue to leverage Patrick’s ideas like he has, for example, on Cape Wind, the tax roll back and stem cell, because his paid pollsters must be telling him that these issues resonate with voters. But Gabs is a goner because he cannot buy GOTV.
In the end, the best man will win because he is bold, independent, and visonary. And his commited supporters (conservative, liberal and in between)will show up to vote in September and again in November.
In all fairness, I should disclose that I am a Patrick supporter.

Gabs has GOTV. I had mentioned in another post that Gabrieli had a regional (i.e. Eastern Mass) GOTV meeting last weekend. I could not make this meeting due to a family related health matter, but I noted then that the # of particpants was “well north of 100”. I guess that I understated it a litte bit as the actual number of particpants on an August Saturday morning was closer to 300.

It is amazing how much this campaign has grown – both in the polls and in numbers/people – in just under 5 months. I know Deval has a great ground game – no one disputes that – but to state that “Gabs is a goner because he cannot buy GOTV” is not only inaccurate, but carries an insinuation that Gabrieli and his team are only there due to $ – that is also off-base.

Lastly, I should also note that most of the people at the meetings that I have attended are not “hired guns”, but are volunteers. For a guy with supposedly no GOTV, Gabrieli will have a lot of people working for the duration on the 19th and the days leading up to the primary. Please do not feel the need to buy this if you do not want to, but trust me, we will be heard and seen on the 19th. May the best campaign take the prize. 18 days to go! Best, SSG

I agree and believe that Patrick/Murray will both prevail. I am working for Murray and we have been out in full force and see the Patrick troops everywhere we go.

Keep fighting,the good fight.

it will be Patrick and Silbert in 2006.

I feel that Murray’s camp is much larger in numbers then Silbert. I don’t see her tracking across the enitre state.
<
p> No experience in local government at all, it’s catching on. Murray is still building each in every day. Signs are going up across the state little by little, the citzens are getting to see that grass roots can win.

Wow! I was wondering…

Seriously now, I’m real glad to hear the Gabber has a ground game. After having attended and helped to organize countless Deval Patrick campaign meetings and events over the past 18 months, I’m astounded to learn there are some people we haven’t engaged. So, good for Chris!
<

We’re gonna need every single one of them to be fully engaged between September 20 and November 7. And I don’t mean that to sound cocky, like I think it’s a done deal that Patrick will win. I have my fingers crossed, and I’m working like hell to make that happen, but I’ve been burned too many times before to take anything for granted.

I just hope that we can all come together on September 20 and magnify our force to elect a Democrat as Governor!

I was as his event this Thursday in Leominster (to speak with my State Senator) My invitation was mailed and I got a robo-call by Chris reminding me of the date. At the site there were no volunteers doing visibility. Just advance people putting up lawn signs, hanging up placards and setting out lit and bumperstickers.

On the other hand, we just had an event with Deval in Fitchburg last Sunday. The campaign has a group of people dedicated to help organize these community meetings, but local volunteers play a major role. We made flyers and delivered them to various places — also giving us a chance to talk with folks about Deval. We called up people and invited them personally. At the event we had a group of volunteers doing visibility in the pouring rain (I was one of them — never did have the sense to get out of the rain).

So like MFW says, I’m glad to hear that Chris has a field organization, even though I’ve never seen any evidence of it in these parts (No. Central Mass.) because like I told St. Sen. Bob Antonioni, we may be working for different candidates now, but come September 20, we’re all going to be working together.

Patrick supporters aren’t taking anything for granted. From now until the primary it’s asses and elbows.
