It is often said that the candidate people are most likely to vote for is the candidate they would most want to have a beer with.
Having met the three candidates for governor, I think they’re all serious enough to probably not drink too much, but Patrick and Gabrieli are the ones to choose between.
But when it comes to the Lieutenant Governor’s race, it appears Andrea Silbert is actively courting the “beer drinker” vote.
In this entry in the Globe’s Political Intelligence blog quoting the candidates WGBH forum from earlier this week, Andrea responded to a question about which governor’s candidate she preferred by saying the following:
On the first day of work you want to go out with your teammate and have a beer and you want to have a nice relationship, said Andrea Silbert. Its best for me to stay out of their race, and I think theyre doing the same with us.
Well said. I presume she’ll be at Gillette tomorrow morning pregaming, grilling up the veggie Pats Brats, fryin’ up a tofurkey and swilling some brewhahas with her Bruschi jersey on…
Or not.
I’m sure Tim can put them away with the best of them, but Andrea seems to have a hidden wild side. My money is on her in terms of the “beer test.” I think we need to return to the days where our top elected officials think about Amber Colored Liquids while carrying out their sworn duties.
OK, so maybe I’m taking it a bit far, but this quote shows me that Andrea is just a regular person who has done some extraordinary things.
UPDATE: I edited per David’s comment. But in full disclosure: I’m drunk because I was drinking all day with Andrea Silbert in a kayak in the hot sun.
UPDATE2: Time has made me realize both comments below were worth listening to, so I’ve further edited my post to take out what I believe are the offending portions. Thank you for your comments.

not sure exactly what your point is, hoss! From the title, I thought you were going to argue that Silbert was the one voters would “most want to have a beer with.” (Can’t say I’d necessarily agree with you there.) But then you went on to quote the stuff about not stating an advance preference for Gov, and how Goldberg would look drunk.

So now I’m confused. Where were we going, again?

Is there an “inappropriate” rating somewhere for posts?

But, I think there might be a point to be made here. [Stretching it, perhaps…]

For my money, the candidate I’d best like to have a beer with is… well, okay, none of them.
<

But maybe that’s because I am gluten-intolerent, so can’t drink beer.
<

Wine, thank goodness, has no gluten in it.

So, the candidate I’d most like to have a glass of wine with is,

…oh, what a surprise! …
