There are several rep races that could have a major impact on the direction of the House. One is in the Third Hampden district (Agawam, Granville, Russell, and Southwick). We have a really dynamic, progressive candidate in that race. Rosemary Sandlin.
It’s a competitive race in the primary and in November. If you live in the district, please give Rosemary your vote. If you have friends in the district, please tell them to go to the polls for Rosemary. She’s a 20 year member of the Agawam School Committee, and a member of the Democratic State Committee. Rosemay is the progressive choice and the strongest candidate to take on the likely Republican nominee, Agawam City Councilor Robert Magovern.
I met Rosemary at my going away party (yes, I left the state with a sad heart before the primary). I haven’t sold my house yet, so I’m still registered in MA and did vote absentee. Rosemary was a pleasure to talk with. She echoed my feelings on many, many issues. Good person. Hope she wins! Go Rosemary!
I knew there was a reason why I liked you. You have great taste in candidates. She is indeed a passionate and committed leader. She is also an independent thinker – she’ll be a great legislator!
One might almost imagine from reading your post that I was not also personally politically progressive. I most certainly am, and I am the Green-Rainbow Party candidate in that district.

You seem to like Rosemary. Why would you want to draw progressives away from her to favor a Republican city councillor?

One one level, I really like peole from the Green Party. On another level, they are maddening.
Would it have surprised you to learn that I took papers out quite some time before Bob Magovern did, and returned them some time before he returned his as well?

I was among the very first to declare for this office, and was not about to withdraw from the contest just because a GOP City Councilor jumped in. The Democratic nominee has not yet embraced the single-payer health care plan or the fair tax plan that I champion – and champion them I shall.
