Yesterday, at a public safety rally in Springfield, Tim Murray unveiled his “MASS Community Oriented Policing Services (C.O.P.S) program. This program outlines a statewide initiative to put 250 new police officers on the streets this year and add more each year. As mayor of Worcester, in spite of tight budgets, Mr. Murray worked to keep police complement high and instituted management reforms that place a greater emphasis on community policing. Mayor Murray also worked to develop crime watches, neighborhoos groups and after school and summer programs for our youth.
