How in the world is Alford only 13th on that list? I think MFW was slacking off!

One of the largest Dean meetups I ever organized and ran, back in 2003, was in Charlemont. Though most of the attendees were from Heath đŸ™‚ (and Rowe and Shelburne – speaking of which, how the heck is Rowe not on this list?)

Oddly, despite much effort, we never got a consistent Pittsfield Dean meetup off the ground, though we had some there sporadically. North county people met in North Adams or Williamstown, south county people met in Great Barrington (I helped with that one a lot in the summer of 2003 and organized their first carpool to canvass in NH). And one of the best meetup groups we had, and one of the most consistent throughout the primary campaign, was in Beckett (hill towns on the Berkshire/Hampden border).

Berkshire, Hampshire and Franklin counties all went for Patrick at about the 68 percent level. Some of that has to do with all of the local appearances he’s made. But I think some of it also has to do with his message on property taxes. Small towns in Western Mass. have been hit hard by cuts in local aid and I think they resonate with Patrick’s message on the relationship between income tax and property tax.
