He says that the Patrick supporters areliberals, gays, black voters, Latino voters environmentalists peaceniks teachers social workers .in short, anybody who cant stand President Bush.
The teacher who lives next door to me tells me she thinks Tom Reilly would be a great governor. The social worker in my mothers book group is voting for Gabrieli. And the personal injury lawyer I see at the coffee shop downtown drives a Hummer (yes, a Hummer) and keeps saying Together we can.
The point is, Paynes argument is simplistic: I know voters from each one of those demographics he lists for Patrick and Gabrieli who are supporting the other two guys. And in this state, everyone cant stand President Bush, except probably for Kerry Healey and her ilk.
This makes no sense: Deval Patricks favorite good man, Roland Arnall, loves President Bush. Paynes syllogism doesnt work.
As for the Gabrieli supporters being least partisan and least politically active, tell that to the DSC members who voted for him at the convention.
But the biggest joke of his Who wins on primary day? is the notion that Gabrieli supporters own McMansions. That would mean that Deval Patrick the one with the 10 million dollar obscene house of the nouveau riche is voting for Chris Gabrieli.
(I didnt even come up with that idea a ninety-year-old lady who drives herself to the polls told me that one.)
The people who own McMansions are often people like Roland Arnall, Patricks best friend and principle owner of Ameriquest and chief donor to President Bush. I wonder how much that SUV driving, Kerry-hating, Bush loving Republican gave to Deval Patrick.
Perhaps Deval will be able to sell his house on reality tv: Multi-Multi-Multi-Million Dollar Listing, and Payne can add real estate agents to the list of types who support Deval.
But really, Dan Payne left one important demographic off the list of Patrick supporters:
TAX EVADERS.

Who the heck cares what consultants think? It’s the voters I’m interested in.
