Save the date folks, the Big Dog is coming to town!
Former President Bill Clinton is coming to Worcester on October 25 for a public campaign rally in support of Deval Patrick and Tim Murray.
From the Worcester Telegram & Gazette
On Sept. 25, Mr. McGovern sent Mr. Clinton an invitation to come to Worcester. Last weekend, the two ran into each other at the dedication of the George and Eleanor McGovern Library in Mitchell, South Dakota, home state of former Democratic senator George McGovern.
Both Mr. Clinton, who maintains a frenetic schedule flying to appearances across the country and around the world, and Mr. McGovern, a protégé of the former senator, spoke at the dedication.
Jim spoke to the president then and Mr. Clinton agreed to participate, said Michael Mershon, a spokesman for the Worcester congressman.
Were very excited about this. Its good for the ticket, and it was very important for Jim to have a public event, Mr. Mershon said. From our perspective, it also reinforces the importance of Central Massachusetts and Worcester to the governors race.
No time given yet, but as I find out, I’ll post it in the event calendar.
Anybody up for a pre or post rally meet-up? A few drinks, maybe some appetizers? There must be a 99 Restaurant* nearby. *g*
(*for some reason bloggers tend to end up at the Nines)
UPDATE: We got a shout-out from David Dahl at the Globe. Hi David, if you’re out this way covering this, be sure to drop by the bloggity meet-up for some drinkage. We love the press. 🙂
But let’s nail down the time and we can figure out where is best to meet.
I was hoping he’d stay away…
Hope it’s not a 9 AM appearance somewhere. Kinda early to drink….

I’m certainly up for getting together if this goes down after school is out.
Nothing is set yet, but the rumorings I’ve been hearing is that it will be 4:00 PMish at the Centrum DCU Center.

Again, take that with a large grain of salt until told otherwise.
works for me. Won’t this be fun?!
Clinton will be welcomed in Worcester. Last time he came they gave out more tickets than there were seats in the hall and a lot (hundreds) of people were left standing outside during his speech. But it was a nice sunny day and a festive atmosphere along Main Street.
How the bejeezus am I supposed to fit yet another thing into my schedule?? I had just about resigned myself to the fact that I was gonna get nowhere near the big fundraiser (since I definitely don’t have the funds and I was guessing the list of eager event volunteers was gonna be a mile long).

Dammit! 😛
It will be good times, plus appetizers. 😛
He’s visiting on Oct 25. Make a sign that says: DON’T FORGET. YOUR WIFE’S BIRTHDAY IS TOMORROW!

in ’77. The Talking Heads opened for him. Still have the ticket stub.
I saw him again in Foxboro in ’95.
All coeds are to leave their berets at home.
