I hope it is true what they say about the debate, that Deval wins by not losing. I didn’t see him lose tonight but I sure didn’t see him win. He stayed on message and made a few good points but didn’t put on the moving performance I expected from Our Guy.

Healey made some good shots and her words sounded reasonable but she continues to come across as an upperclass princess who is deigning to converse with the regular po’ folk by even showing up at the debate.
It’s not possible in these debates. They’re just not set up that way. Deval’s at his best when it’s just him, speaking at length. That obviously never happens at debates, except in closing statements. It’s too bad, because success or failure in these debates actually has very little to do with how effective one would be as a governor.
