According to the moderator of tonight’s debate, Kerry Healey’s performance tonight made up little if any ground on Patrick’s commanding lead in recent polls. Keller said that Healey succeeded in only two of the three goals he thought she needed to achieve, while Patrick achieved all three. He concludes: “a good night for Deval Patrick.”
You can see his report here (it’s the one entitled “Keller @ Large: Breaking Down The Debate”).
Please share widely!
I agree with Keller’s assesment. However, an established incumbant politician once unexpectedly lost an election and realized too late that he forgot to ask the voters to vote for him during his speeches. He did so, rather profusely, the next time and easily won his seat back. I note that Patrick did not ask the voters for their vote in his closeling remarks – as, I believe, did his opponents. May seem like a small point, but voters are never never to be taken granted for – especially in a democracy.
Why would he admit that his plans could be contingent upon the actions of somebody else?

What kind of precedent would THAT be?
Getting whacked around by three opponents can tend to take your mind off of all your talking points.
…Patrick doing it in other debates…anyone remember specifics?
<
p>
I’ve also heard him do it in stump speeches.

We’re excited, Patrick is coming to Lowell TWICE tomorrow! And one of those times, it’s to visit with the Cambodian community we have here, so good on him!
I’m quite sure he said, “I ask for your vote,” in his closing statements in most, if not all, of the primary debates. I don’t recall him saying it at Faneuil Hall last week, though, and I don’t remember whether he did in the previous general debates.
…and that’s not EXACTLY what he said.

What cracked me up is the Jack Williams was just UNABLE to read a viewer email complimenting Healey. Henning was himself, very analytical, but Jack and Peter Meade are just sad cheerleaders.

9. Healey supporters thought her move to ensure handgun proliferation by removing from local officials the authority to grant gun permits was effective immediately and were out trying to stock up on firearms.
<
p>
8. After vouching for Romney’s commitment to pro-choice values four years ago, Healey attempted to vouch for the authenticity of an email from gdubs43@whitehouse.gov praising Healey for doing “a heckuva job,” leading Williams to the logical conclusion that it was in fact a fake.
<
p>
7. Healey supporters were busy trying to figure out how to spend the .3 of 1% of their MA taxable income they could be getting back if Healey won. Sure it’s only $150 a year for a family making $50,000, but it’s a month’s tuition at Deefield for those of us pulling in seven figures.
<
p>
6. Every email supporting Healey contained bizarre rants unsuitable for TV about miscegenation and black men raping white women.
<
p>
5. The Healey staffer responsible for coordinating the emails was mistaken for an escaped inmate because of his orange jumpsuit and a threatening “I will rape you all, then vote for Deval Patrick!” sign he was holding in front of a Reading elementary school.
<
p>
4. It was just a case of bad timing, as Healey’s base was busy winterizing and dry docking their yachts.
<
p>
3. Healey supporters had ordered “the help” to send in emails supporting Muffy, but because they all hired illegal immigrants, none of the emails were actually sent.
<
p>
2. Millionaire emailers got another tax break from the Romney-Healey administration in mid-email and hit “Send” on half-finished emails that Williams couldn’t make heads or tails of.
<
p>
And the number one reason why a pro-Healey email wasn’t read:
<
p>
1. There were none.
It was from the channel 4 newscast, which you can see at the video I mentioned in the post. And it IS exactly what he said.

Sorry to burst your bubble.
Wow. Even after all he did to aid and abet her? CBS4 should give a public apology for allowing him to seemingly grant her Co-Moderator priveleges. She was running the show through a lot of the hour, not him. And Patrick and the others did just fine despite the disadvantage that was forced upon them by Keller.
