Image of Martha Coakley, Middlesex District Attorney:
“I’ve spent the last 20 years fighting for victims of crime, so I find Kerry Healey’s attacks on Deval Patrick innacurate and misleading. Patrick’s been a prosecutor, he has a solid plan to deal with rising crime, including 1,000 more police officers. And Kerry Healey, during her administration, we’ve lost hundreds of police. And when she served on a state crime commission, she skipped half the meetings. For Deval Patrick, crime’s a real problem to be solved. For Kerry Healey, just another negative ad.”

Much better when you have well-respected people saying this stuff as opposed to an anonymous voiceover. Kudos to the Patrick ad team. And so true…

I can’t imagine she has a ton of cash for running TV adds right now with most of the money going in to the governors race. This ad gets her face on the tube and helps Deval at the same time. Kill two campaigns (Gov and AG) with one ad. Nice move.

How often in your lifetime have you ever seen a candidate for statewide office publicly put themselves on the line for another politician who is in trouble (when their own race will appear on the same ballot)?

It is as rare an occurence as Hayley’s Comet…but Martha Coakley who has earned and enjoys more credibility than any other Democrat in the state has put her principles before her personal politics, not once, but twice in this election cycle.
<
p>
She had the courage to stand up for Tom Reilly in the Primary because she believed in his candidacy and abilities.(She was booed at the Convention for doing so and warned that it would damage her career….it won’t.)
<
p>
She has the courage now to stand up against Kerry Healey and the negative and deceptive campaign she is running. She has the strongest ad on TV at this time…not due to “Deval’s ad guys”, as someone here suggests…but solely due to the strength of Martha Coakley’s character and reputation.

She is the best…bar none.

It’s a great ad. Martha’s wonderful, a stand up woman. But she didn’t send an ad directly to the media outlets. Sheesh!

PS Deval is not in trouble.

But you have to admit a 39% to 13% DP drop (CH4-CBS poll) since Sept 22 as a result of negative attacks could be fairly filed in the “trouble” folder…Martha’s ad helped stop the slide and that’s impressive…she was the right credible source to deliver the message and it worked…

I can think of at least 10 very high visibility Dems who if asked to perform the same assistance would have said, “Gee,wish I could, love to help Deval but I have a race of my own!”

for Martha Coakley. I have two lawn signs now … a ble Deval/Tima and a red Martha. Everyone should do the same.

What are her prospects for winning the AG? Who’s running against her?

What a dream team for our state – Patrick and Coakley!!!!

I thought she was running unopposed until I saw a bumper sticker (actually several on one of the taxis in queue in front of the Sheraton Commander in Cambridge — same one that’s usually covered in Galluccio stickers) for Larry Frisoli.
<

So, she’s basically unopposed….
roboy3 says
And do you know why? Because Coakley has not only the experience, and the reputation for “tough on crime” but the courage to say, as she did at the press conference no one covered, “I used to think the death penalty worked, I have changed my mind.” That’s not a direct quote, but to that effect.
<

There is nothing more valuable in the death penalty debate than Prosecutors like Martha Coakley saying that it’s time for the criminal JUSTICE system to put away the death penalty.

Where do we get a lawn sign?
