Remember those horrible mailings? I was helping Ed Augustusrun for the Senate in Worcester County, and the ugly mailings the state was sending on behalf of Robi Blute.
Remember the mailing targeting Karen Spilka; It was a “slime-fest” from the Republicans:
Jessica Kemp manages the campaign of State Representative Karen Spilka, who’s running for an open MetroWest senate seat; last week, a GOP mailing accused Spilka of abetting child molestation.
People are disappointed and outraged, Kemp says. To go after Karen’s voting record is one thing, but this goes way beyond that. It’s preying on fear. This seems to be a new low in terms of what people will do.
They went after quality house Democrats as well.
It was a simple choice … the Massachusetts Republican Party’s postcard reads. And Barbara L’Italien picked educating illegal immigrants over our children. The card shows an image of children and their teacher slumped over their desks in a darkened classroom while L’Italien, their Democratic state representative, smirks cruelly. On November 2, it’s time we start putting our children first. Tell Barbara L’Italien her wrong priorities are hurting our children.
When the politics of fear failed last year, THAT’S when Romney became disinterested in governing Massachusetts. Those same techniques are being used for Kerry Muffy Healey. Let’s hope the Republicans have the same success they had with ugly campaigning in 2004.

As we know, Mike Dukakis has been speaking of the need to run for office at the grassroots level, for quite a while. I’m glad that the Patrick campaign took that to heart 🙂

Mike and Kitty were in the middle of the crowd. People were walking up to him talking to him, taking photos with him. Kerry Muffy Healey has been trashing him. I remember him as a great leader. Mitt and Muffy couldn’t stand in his shadow.

Glad you got to have a few words with Mike Dukakis, too. It was a fun time all around. Only a few more weeks to go….

Once we defeat Muffy, we need to organize a national tour for Romney. Stealing an idea from Andrea Silbert, we can use kayaks to talk about Romney’s local aid cuts. You know, how local aid in 2007 is below the 2003 Jane Swift levels. It will be the Local Aid Jane Swift-Kayak tour! Oh, let’s not call it a kayak. Too elitist. Get out the Jane Swift Boats!

… with no paddles. That would be a more appropriate statement of where he is leaving the state.
