Numbers #12 and #13 of the campaign.
#12 is entitled “Future” and is about his support (and the Romney / Healey administration’s oppposition) of Cape Wind and stem cell research. It’s Deval talking into the camera in a lab, with a really effective ending.
#13 is entitled “Politics”, Deval is not in it, it has a moderator speaking and it targets Healey’s negative campaign in general and her parking garage ad in particular.
Both ads are very effective.

I really, really like “Future” — that rings my chimes.

But, “Politics” leaves me cold. I understand the concept of hitting back, but do we really need to? Especially at this point. Seems like overkill to me, and giving more credence to the slime than it deserves.

I think the ad is needed to provide context for those people who have been constantly exposed to Healey’s ads, find themselves responding, and have no context for how beyond the pale they really are. This ad helps people recalibrate and makes an attempt to pull some of those people back who’ve been dislodged. I think it’s very important and very well done.

she’s apparently still running that ad. I have not seen it but I read it was on during Oprah. I think she’s still trying to go after woman with the ad (and her afternoon press conference), and if I read the latest poll right he did lose some ground among women (60 down from 70). So if this ad is playing against that ad I think it’s effective.

I suspect that “Politics” was developed before the polls came out this week. Those polls show that more than half the voters have already gotten the point. I hope that the campaign doesn’t air it, as it now seems preachy and redundant, but I appreciate that it could have been useful under different circumstances.

The “Future” ad is a great way to cap the campaign, a segue into a new era.
