Deval has spent his whole life fighting for the little guy, and for justice. I don’t think he should run away from the LaGuer case, he should embrace it.
As Chacon said,
“Deval felt strongly at the time — and does so today — that whenever issues of fairness are raised in our court system, they should be addressed in a serious manner,”
.
So run on that — run on justice with passion. Put out an ad about how he worked for justice in the Clinton Administration, at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and yes, even for somebody on trial for a horrible crime. Tie it in with our crumbling DNA facilities and how we need to invest in ourselves, including our justice system.
As the Globe editorial I just linked to points out,
Healey… said she supports the 30-day target goal for DNA analysis, and the additional 50 chemists it would take to get there.
…
In Delaney’s view, state forensic chemists should earn at least $50,000. At that rate, hiring and training 50 more would mean upward of $4 million.
Justice all comes back to the fiscal shell game.
So now we have a narrative: DNA evidence is necessary to convict criminals, and good DNA labs are necessary for that. And insiders in Beacon Hill are playing fiscal shell games with our justice system. Deval Patrick has fought for justice all his life and isn’t going to step down from that because of some negative ads. His campaign is about a more hopeful society that doesn’t play politics with serious criminal cases.
Does this sound too roundabout? How can we simplify this message to make it more accessible? Can Deval Patrick run a positive campaign based not just on hope, but on real justice for all?
Republicans talk about crime,
Democrats put more cops on the beat.
If not for the death penalty, we wouldn’t have Easter.

(sorry)
Those liberals are always trying to get rid of Christmas!
Because liberals can’t find 3 liberal wise men or any virgins.
…heaven knows Matt Foley was doing everything he could to eliminate any on the Republican side…
I never thought I would read something so tastelessly hilarious.
