Not only did Mitt eloquently say Kerry was going to lose the election on national television, but now this?
Did Mitt Romney really compliment Ben Laguer? Well if you listened to Romney’s tete a tete with John Keller, it certainly sounds like it.
“[Ben Laguer] happened to be well spoken.” My oh my. Here is the transcript at Keller’s site. Imagine the damage this guy could do if he where in the state more than 1 out of every 3 days!
Please share widely!
It’s not like Romney’s around enough to know what he’s talking about.
I enjoy an unfair quote as much as the next person, but here is the ENTIRE remark as reported by Keller:

“The idea of becoming personally involved in a case where an individual has been convicted of rape, as I understand it, the rapist tied the person up over a period of nine hours, sexually abused her, to say were now going to support that person, giving a personal contribution to that individual, I find that very hard to understand.

This person happened to be well-spoken and Deval Patrick got on his side and Im just glad he wasnt governor when a decision for commutation came up in a case like that. (BOLD Emphasis is the BMG extraction; Italics are mine).
So he did say “This person happened to be well-spoken”.

Could you get me the entire Deval Patrick quote that Muffy used in the ad? Best I could tell it was from Fox25.
I’d like to hear the entire quote from Deval too, because it appears in the commercial that Deval had more to say, but perhaps that didn’t fit in nicely with Muffy’s smear tactics?
<

Sadly, Fox25 doesn’t appear to leave their archived video online very long.
is that saying someone is “well spoken,” or “thoughtful,” or “eloquent,” is not the same as saying “is a good person.”
<
p>
But of course, you know that. I have no idea why I bother spelling these things out.
however, well spoken = eloquent. It’s funny that you take issue with Jimcaralis not actually giving us the entire story, however Healy’s entire campaign has been just about that. If Healy told the entire story, in the correct context, she’d have a lot less votes than she already does. Unfortunately, we live in a world where people are ill-informed and tend to believe everything they see on television (i.e be afraid of the scary Black man lurking in the dark parking garage). JC took one quote from an article and distorted its’ context ; much like Healy has attempted to “distort Patrick’s record” and assassinate his character..all the while making an Ass of herself.
I provided a link to the whole quote so that PP and anyone else that wanted to see the context, could.
I hope you didn’t take my comment the wrong way…I am aware that you provided the link to the entire article. What I was trying to get at is how easily things can be distorted. I wasn’t actually saying that you were attempting to deceive the folks of BMG…hope that makes sense!
I understood where you were comming from. I was just supplementing.
Wasn’t the oft-quoted remarks by Deval from a few weeks ago “complimenting” LeGuer of similar selective/manipulative vein?
<

People always leave out the obvious–that Deval helped him not because he enjoyed being supportive of the rape of “59 year-old grandmother,” but because he believed that the system had failed Mr. LeGuer. I see no distinction (as Healey apparently believes) in the fact that this was a parole hearing instead of habeas action.

Big difference!

(Question: did he get a life sentence or will he eventually get out anyway?)
….overhoused.
I think the “overhoused” Deval Patrick ad has some of the features of the worst Healey ads. I’m not sure what the context of her comment was, but the ad clearly does not provide any context.
<

Of course, I’m not crying for the Healey campaign.
Here is the quotation, from an article by Cyndi Roy, State House News Service, posted on massnews.com:
I wouldn’t say the ad is distorting the context, but I agree that it’s better to show an entire quote than just one word.

Here’s the article

I wrote about it as well when Healey was booed in an AARP meeting before the last debate on her flip flop that David documented on this issue. People can see through the the stuff she is shoveling and they aren’t buying it.
Wants to keep them stranded in suburbs, dependedent on Government aid that he will dole out only aftre checking party registration!

“I’m genning on a bus to Foxwoods, and I ain’t comin’ back”, said Fred, a WWII veteran who asked not to be identified.
Gosh, by golly there are tumbleweeds rolling in the deserted suburbs. It’s a vast wasteland.

Everyone knows that if you are over 62 you can’t drive a car anymore and are completely helpless.
My town has over 30 seniors in this category, living entirely alone in three bedroom ranches. They have outlived their contemporaries, and in some cases, their children.

Their only choices are to struggle on or go into a nursing home, because assisted living – when it can BE afforded – are full up.

And of course – we have no public transportation.
Point #40 to me gain. You know the one that has tax breaks for seniors.

Also, i’m still waiting for the entire Deval Patrick quote and waiting for your response.
My grandmother died last year in her 80’s in her HOME. Every time I saw her she talked about how she would never move out of that house. It was everything she had worked for. Most of the elderly people I know want to keep their homes.
