The Globe reported on a pre-debate a forum sponsored by the AARP today. Let’s just say the audience wasn’t as receptive as Kerry Healey would have liked.
At one point, the group of 700 senior citizens with canes and gray hair drowned out Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey with boos as she tried to criticize Democratic candidate Deval Patrick on taxes.
It’s hard to understand why the group of seniors would be so upset with Kerry “Overhoused” Healey. As David’s Flip Flop posting noted, Healey did say in point 40 of her 50 Points of Light Plight.
Providing tax incentives to caretakers, who dedicate a significant amount of their time and personal resources to care for an elderly relative, will allow more seniors to remain in their home in a caring environment.
See, she wants to provide tax breaks to seniors so they can remain in their homes. Well who doesn’t think that’s a good idea? You guessed it, Kerry Healey.
My opinion is that to extend tax breaks to seniors in order to keep them overhoused and isolated in the suburbs is not necessarily the right answer
Yes, isolated in the barren wasteland of the suburbs. Do they even have running water there yet?
People understand when they are being pandered to and flip floping with each new polling number is not going to help.
