We’d like to suggest one strong Patrick-Murray campaign point for the next two weeks and post it in a prominent place on the website. Then, two weeks before the vote we will swap it out for another key phrase that flags a host of issues. As the race draws to a close, and a potentially tight finish, we want to ratchet up the pressure on the already-weak Healey-Hillman effort, and help build consistency, to the degree that is practicable and desirable, among the foes of four more years of Republican mismanagement.
We’d like to know what you think those two points should be. Herewith a few suggestions in no particular order. Please let your thoughts fly in the comments. Full credit will go to whomever suggests the winning two points —
. Responsible.
. Experienced.
. Will reduce overall taxation.
. Independent.
. Gets things done.

Common Sense, Uncommon Leadership.

I like experienced and “gets things done” because of the implicit comparisons to Healey’s record of unaccomplishment, and because they are defining the issues rather than reacting to Republicans. Others could include:

Committed to Massachusetts.
Honest.
Innovative.

As I was just trained today on making phone calls for a non-partisan organization (not in MA), this is how I will be framing many of my conversations during the next few weeks. Hope it works!

If you want thoughts on the topics you suggested I go with “Responsible” and “Gets things done”.

In any head to head w/Healey, Deval comes across as the grown up -“Responsible” as a theme capitalizes on this. Also sends the message that Healey is and has been “Irresponsible”.

“Gets things done” obviously builds on Deval’s resume while contrasting with how Healey has spent the last few years.

by refocusing on public education, improving infrastructure, business development, and affordable housing. Under the Republican leadership (for lack of a better word), we have seen school systems suffer, the infrastructure crumble, and affordable housing disappear. People are leaving the state to seek a better life elsewhere.

My suggestion for point two:

Getting people to check back in who have checked out of the process. This would be an appropriate focus for two weeks before the election. I think it has resonated with a lot of people.

Excellent suggestions. I’ll review with David and Charley. Any more: please let them fly.
