Returning to Massachusetts from New York State, it was a wonderful welcome to cross the line on Route 23 to see all those beautiful blue Deval Patrick signs!
After a stop for dinner at the Barrington Brewery (world class chicken pie!), it was back on the Pike for the trip to the inside-128 section of Left Fields. (Note to Michael Forbes Wilcox: No turkeys were harmed to make the chicken pie.)
Besides the culture and the beauty, the wonderful primary results and progressive values are all reasons to love the Berkshires! If you want to be true-blue to a deep blue part of the world, spend your vacation dollars in Berkshire County!

Even Ernie recommended this one — must be the poll!

Looks like my driveway is winning — I better get even more signs up there…

I’m so glad you noticed. We put out about 800 signs before the Primary, and that was about a hundred times as many as all the other candidates combined. Well, okay, maybe a little hyperbole there, but not much!

You certainly seem to know your geography around here. Or maybe you can just read a road map. In any case, it was a glorious weekend for hiking, biking, and just about anything.

Glad you enjoyed the Barrington Brewery. They brew a mean pale ale. I really shouldn’t have any (I’m gluten-intolerant, which means barley is a no-no), but every once in a while I just have to go wild and down a pint. Also, the owners are progressive Dems and good people. Oh, wait, that’s redundant!

I also know the back roads around southern Berkshire county. I even know how to get to Alford. Does the East Road or West Road have more Deval signs?

I am glad my pint and pasta went to support good progressive Dems. I also saw nothing but Deval signs until this afternoon, when I came across evil Healey Hillman signs at the usual suspects’ location in East Lexington this afternoon.

There are lots of Berkshire residents who couldn’t find their way to Alford. That’s part of its charm! It’s not on the way to anywhere.

And you even know both roads in town! I’m on East Road, so maybe I’m partisan, but I think we have more Deval signs here (and Downing signs). But, good idea, I’ll try to make it a competition.

My funny story for the weekend is that when Pat and I went hiking on the ridge across the valley from my house (where the border of NY state runs), we drove down a long, private, dead end dirt road to get to the access point for the nature preserve, and the very last house on the road had a Downing yard sign. I couldn’t believe it because aside from a few random hikers who happen to know how to get to the trailhead, no one but the owners of the house would ever see that sign. Maybe they had a house party!

I get a lot more traffic than your guy with the first yard sign after crossing the state line on the hiking trail. Unfortunately, I am on the eighth floor with absolutely no lawn, so nobody would see it. Except maybe an occasional gull. goose, or traffic copter.
