Just heard on msnbc there are rumors that Howard Dean may be ousted from his position… strikes me as odd considering his 50 state strategy seemed to help…
that would be terrible: Dean is part of why we won in Carol Shea-Porter’s disctrict, why John Yarmuth won in Kentucky’s 3rd, why we were so competetive in Wyoming. It’s why Jon Tester, an absolute Dean Democrat, got elected in Montana. Building the state parties from the ground up is what works, and the Dean brothers proved that this election. The Raum Immanuel method of pushing outside conservative candidates was not effective, and counterproductive in some cases (see Duckworth).

…and I’m puzzled by your statement that Dean was part of why she won? Except for some grassroot Deanics helping in the campaign(some in very important roles), Dean to my knowledge had no impact on this race. In fact, the story about the NH 01 race is how the Democratic Washington establishment totally ignored her (except for a couple of Presidnetal wannabes throwing her money and doing some appearances).

one, in that case the lack of national involvement was absolutely a part of, and part of many races across the country that could’ve been bigger victories with DCCC help, and other races that could have been more competetive if the DCCC had helped out. Dean’s 50-state strategy and his brother’s (and 1000s of others’) efforts with DFA had been helping strengthen state parties all through the country, growing strong candidates, and were thwarted over the past few months by the other national establishment groups.

two, while Dean didn’t have a direct effect in the recent, the presidential campaign of 2003 had a HUGE impact on the way we organize and run elections in this country now. as you said, experienced “Deaniacs” were important in the campaign.

if Dean is out, Gov. Patrick can offer Dr. Dean a position in his administration that would tap Deans strengths in achieving nearly universal healthcare.

I was a Dean follower (pre Deaniac) long before most people knew who he was because I worked in health care administration in this state. Anybody who followed trends in health care knew who Howard Dean was because of his approach to coverage in Vermont.

He’d be a great asset to a Patrick government.

whose public face has diminished considerably since “The War Room” and the end of the Clinton era, is putting this out there. I guess being Mr. Mary Matalin was wearing thin.

Not to worry. There’s not a chance in hell it’ll happen, as much as he and Rahm Emanuel and the rest of the DLC crowd would like it to.

More at DailyKos, and Dean’s media person responds here.
Dean’s not going anywhere, despite Carville’s hyperventilating attempts to get attention. There’s a word for people who want to get rid of Dean from the DNC.

Dean’s heading to England for a little while to help Labour tap into his ideas for success.
Dean will be the keynote speaker at the Liberal Party of Canada’s annual convention this year. (Not my favorite choice, frankly, as the Liberal Party’s leevl and history pf corruption dwarfs that of the GOP.)

Dean is one of the cleanest and brightest pols to come down the tracks in a long time. He is honest and he truly cares about we the people. He is our hope for saving health care. We can’t lose him.
When I met him in New Hampshire you whould have thought that it was the second coming. People flocked to him with hope. We need Dean.

Think THEY want to spend their freshman term apologizing for Dean’s dumb remarks to their new constituentcies?

Did people like Tom Tancredo and Marilyn Musgrave enjoy spending their time apologizing for Melhman’s remarks that angered their constituencies?
