Joan Vennochi’s column in the Globe this week could not have been more appropriate regarding the botched joke fiasco…Democrats would do well to consider how long they intend to play the part of the cowardly lion…

It doesn’t matter in Massachusetts, but too many Democrats on the national stage don’t seem to realize that we’re facing a radical group of thugs who are only interested in power and who are changing the face of America. Against these radicals the old rules no longer apply, and in the words of one of their worst – Grover Norquist, “bipartisanship is like date rape”. That gang has done so much damage that I will never support anyone for a national position who isn’t a team player on the Democratic side.

Deval was exactly right: Kerry’s comment was dumb, he should apologize, and he did apologize. What’s wrong with that?
joeltpatterson says
Because this is just another case of GOP spin being adopted by the media, and then by other big Dems.

I don’t think Vennochi was talking about Deval Patrick…she was referring to National “leaders” in the Democratic Party who are so overly concerned about their personal prospects that they equivocate and cower in the face of GOP *storms.

It’s fine to run AGAINST the GOP…but what are they running FOR? (other than personal advancement and advantage)

They better figure it out before they actually have to take over the House…whining about the GOP won’t be a workable strategy anymore…

Maybe John Murtha would be a good Speaker…he seems to know what he stands for and against and isn’t afraid of the GOP or radio talk show hosts.

Right on, Joan.

All throughout this summer and fall, I couldn’t forget a Comedy Central sketch with Ed Helms featuring Paul Hackett right after he was booted out of the race against Mike DeWine in Ohio. There is a scene where Helms is talking with NY political consultant Hank Scheinkopf …

Regarding Murtha, he seems to have never met a defense appropriations bill that he didn’t like and appears to be just as much a careerist as the rest of them, if not more.
