It was two years (and one day) ago that the first post went up on Blue Mass. Group.
Since then, we’ve recorded nearly two and a half million page loads and over 850,000 unique visitors. Our 2,200 registered users (including Bob, Charley, and me) have written over 5,300 posts, and over 40,000 comments. Busy place.
It’s been quite a ride. Thanks for joining us. And stick around — we’re just getting started!

Two year of hard work and dedication have made you a force to be reconed with, in MSM and Mass Politics.

And can someone (in theory) go through it chronologically (at least the front pages)?

Our search function totally sucks. It’s useless. I just sent an email right now to the Soapblox guys asking for some improvement on that. Furthermore, unless we’ve linked to them from subsequent posts, old posts moved over from the Typepad days don’t show up on Google.

p>
Recently, I was looking for early posts on various issues. I ended up typing numbers of posts directly into the browser, like so:
http://www.bluemassg…
http://www.bluemassg…
http://www.bluemassg…
http://www.bluemassg…
<
p>
etc.

I’m sorry, and that’s a totally inadequate solution. We should have a better way to archive stuff on the site. Soapblox is still pretty damn powerful, cheap for us, and in general has been a smashing success for us. But it would be cool to have some new/improved features.

Happy birthday, BMG! While we are discussing improvements for the next two years and beyond, how about fixing the timestamps? If you are going to use military time, you don’t really to put AM or PM after it, do you?
david says
There’s no formal week-by-week or month-by-month set of archives, but you can do a couple of things. First, you can plug in the URL of any page, e.g. this one:
http://www.bluemassgroup.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=5332
And just replace the last number (5332) with 1, or 26, or whichever post you want to view.
<
p>
Alternatively, you can use a link like this one:
http://www.bluemassgroup.com/frontPage.do?nextDiaryId=1
These links bring up a full page of older post. Replace the last number with any number up to 170 — higher numbers brings up older posts.

Great job building such a nice place. Built it strong too it just survived its first primary fight, and now it’s spawning imitators.

Many happy returns to BMG and its munificent creators.

All this in only two years…I had somehow thought you were around longer then that! For someone like me, who came from another state and tries to understand this one, you have been a terrific help.

Happy 2nd birthday guys! I’d say you are just like two year olds but that wouldn’t be too nice to the two year olds. Ha! Kidding. Here’s to another 2! Er, or more.

Does this mean that BMG will not be able to take “no” for an answer, and throw a tantrum when it does not get what it wants?
