Here are the first few paragraphs from their piping hot off the presses endorsement:
Deval Patrick deserves your vote for governor on Nov. 7. We feel that the time has come for change from the 16 years of Republican domination of the State House’s corner office.
The Mitt Romney-Kerry Healey administration has been a big disappointment on many fronts and Patrick deserves the opportunity to see if he can do better.
One of the things we like about Patrick is that he is an outsider in the world of Massachusetts politics, not tied to the old gang on Beacon Hill. Yet, we feel he is someone who can work with the leadership in the legislature to actually get some positive things done.
And from the Newton Tab:
For 16 years, the corner office in the State House has housed Republicans, most of whom were so bored with their jobs that they couldnt wait to hand it over to the Republican-in-waiting. Through four elections, the Democrats could not manage to put forth a candidate who could inspire and excite voters, let alone capture their votes. Finally, though, a candidate has emerged who erases our ambivalence. The TAB enthusiastically endorses Deval Patrick for governor of Massachusetts.
Throughout this campaign, Patrick has personified poise and diplomacy. He acknowledges his opponents good ideas, he listens to voters as they share their difficulties with life in the Commonwealth, and he refuses to participate in Kerry Healeys political slugfest. He has remained positive despite Healeys attempts to shroud the political environment with negativism.
He hasnt made enemies of those hell need to work with. He hasnt tried to turn trivial matters or personal flaws into political weapons. He has treated his opponents – and their ideas – with respect. He hasnt burned bridges.
