“The Candidate” is better than “The Last Hurrah”! Can I make a stronger recommendation? Even better than Bob Roberts.
Even though much has changed in 34 years since it was made, cynicism and manipulation has always been a staple in politics.
So if you can, plant yourself in-front of the TV at 6 pm today. It’s on Channel 68 (Pax, I think) which is Channel 15 on Comcast.
There are a ton of cameos from lots of pols and media types (George McGovern, Alan Cranston, Mike Wallace) and, yes, that was Mike Barnicle. But what is most mind blowing about the movie is how the reality of Jerry Brown followed in the footsteps of this fictional movie two years after the movie was made.
