The civic engagement working group can now announce three more public meetings:
Wednesday, Dec. 6, 8:30 am (with Higher Ed group):
UMass-Boston Alumni Lounge
2nd Floor Campus Center
100 Morrissey Blvd., Boston
Wednesday, Dec. 6, 7:00 pm
Roxbury Community College
Reggie Lewis Center Gymnasium
1350 Tremont St., Boston
Monday, Dec. 11, 6:00 pm
Lawrence Senior Center
155 Haverhill St., Lawrence
(note that the Human Services group is holding a meeting at the same location starting at 4 pm)
There’s still at least one more meeting that we’re trying to work out logistics for.
In addition, you can (finally) see a complete calendar of all the scheduled meetings at this page on the official transition website.
Mark your calendars! Please plan to come, and to bring as many people with you as you can.
Are all the meetings similar, in that they are being held in many areas of the state to get as much input from geographically-diverse people as possible, or is this a series, which really interested people should plan to go to more than one of, or all of them if they can?
The idea is geographic diversity. Each meeting will basically consist of the working group speaking very briefly about what we’re looking for, and then hearing directly from the members of the public in attendance. So if you have your say at one, probably you don’t need to attend another. (Unless you’re curious!)
At lest the Republicans only expected us to go to New Bedford! (which as a 200 mile round trip for many of us).

In fact, I would guarantee that if the Civic Engagement team was in the header of a message, David would be happy to make it available to any member of the team who doesn’t read BMG. Of course, wise team members will be focused on our every word.
Are you going to be at both of the ones on the 6th, and at the Lawrence one?

Not that I’m biased or anything, but I want to go to one where you’ll be there. If nothing else, just to wave hi from across the room. đŸ™‚
I’m planning to go to the Mobilizing Urban Voters shindig on Wednesday morning, so I will have to miss the Wednesday morning meeting. But I’m planning to attend both the Roxbury meeting (Wednesday evening) and the Lawrence meeting (next Monday).
And Lawrence is even in my neck of the woods!

Hehe.
I just read in the Dorchester Reporter that there’s a forum planned for Thursday, Dec. 7 by the Patrick-Murray team.
Here’s what the Reporter said about it on their website http://www.dotnews.c…
Patrick team plans Dot forum on health care
The Deval Patrick-Tim Murray Transition Committee working group on health care and the Dorchester Reporter will co-sponsor a public forum on Thurs., Dec. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. to solicit input from community residents and local health care providers. The forum will be held at the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 17 Hall, 1157 Adams Street in Lower Mills. The forum is intended to collect local thoughts for the Patrick-Murray transition team as it formulates health care policy for the incoming administration. The health care working group is co-chaired by Dorchester resident James Hunt, Jr., president of the Mass League of Community Health Centers and includes Savin Hill resident Bill Walczak, executive director of the Codman Square Health Center.
I bitched and moaned in another thread about the opacity of the working group meetings. The posted calendar is a step in the right direction! I’m a lot happier now.
Hmmmmmm, I wonder if he might want to attend the first Civic Engagement meeting in Millbury?

After all this seems to be where a lot of his focus is? Geez, I hope so, Tim will be at City Council, supposedly, so he won’t be there. Though he missed last Tuesday.

Anyway, just wondering out loud, I have a feeling, Mr. Keller may show……the microscope will certainly be out, and boy are we going to give them all a civics lesson. Especially after what Deval said to the Newspaper Editors yesterday.
