Or am I beginning to hear things from my radio that are not necessarily being broadcast?
While driving to work, interrupting the many tributes to Gary LaPierre, I THINK I heard a brief item. I would put this in as a comment on a relevant thread, but if it’s true, it could have wide implications, and BMG’ers are always able to ferret out information!
It was that any legislators who are attorneys (are there any who are NOT?) who refuse to proceed to a substantive vote on gay marriage as described by the Supreme Judicial Court might face sanctions from the Mass. and National Bar Association!
I can’t find this on the WBZ web site, but today is all LaPierre, all the Time. And it SEEMS logical!
Or is my brain stem just chatting with me again while I drive?

It was mentioned as an aside in an AP story on the dilemma facing lawmakers.

However, it is just right-wing fantasy. The bar associations do not get involved in sanctioning attorneys for political decisions. In the absence of a specific order by a court (and remember, the court refused to actually issue a legally-binding and enforceable order) there’s not even any grounds for a legit complaint.

I suppose one could always file an ethics complaint against individual legislators, but that falls under the same technical catagory as “did you know you can actually sue anybody for anything at any time” without the second part of the equation “yeah, and judges can throw out frivolous lawsuits at any time also!”

It’s not in the Herald on-line, and my paper is still at my house for tonight.

But everyone knows that it’s not happening no matter Casey Ross’ flight of fantasy. Is it me or does anyone else miss Kim already.
