The ever-excellent Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center has issued their latest Budget Monitor publication. They conclude:
While it would be a mistake to believe that we know with any confidence exactly what the final tax revenue number will be for FY 2007, it now appears that if current trends continue tax revenue may exceed the official estimate by over $400 million, which could be just enough for the budget to be balanced without the use of “Rainy Day Fund” money and without the need for draconian 9C cuts.
