Does anyone have a theory about why the Globe articles regarding Willard and gay marriage are so popular that they stay at the top of the “most e-mailed” list on the Globe web site for weeks at a time? Are people really forwarding these stories to their friends, or is it just McCain’s campaign volunteers trying to sustain the connection between our soon-to-be-former Governor and this issue by artificially maintaining the stories on that list?

None of these stories have the “gotcha” quality that you would expect from a concentrated effort, like some of the campaign stories we saw floating out there in September-November.

In looking at the numbers, only a couple of the stories were being forwarded more than 15 times a day, so maybe it’s just one or two people with an agenda.

Either way, the Globe must not care too much or they would have put safeguards in place by now.
I have no theories. But I don’t trust the judgment of people in large groups urged not to think but
feelfear.
