Seems we should know about what our “pro-choice” state is doing about the young woman who used an ulcer med, Cytotect, to induce a miscarriage last week. For an eloquent commentary on the situation, check out feministing’s posts. This young woman may be facing homicide charges…this can’t be determined until the medical examiner is done assessing whether the fetus the young woman delivered was more or less than 24 weeks. Abortions are accessible if you have the money or the insurance. Otherwise, they can be very difficult to get, require big $$$ and a way to get to the clinic. Until abortion is accessible, choice remains elusive.

I understant the fetus was at least 25 maybe 26 months old.

I think she should be locked up and throw away the key. If this is the case . . . .

There is a difference between abortion and infanticide, she committed the latter and it is a crime.

By news accounts, this woman attempted to have an abortion, she took pills known to her to cause an abortion…before the Mass 24 week legal abortion cut off…so unless we consider abortion infanticide, this was a botched abortion, not murder.

It’s hard for me to believe that a woman who wanted to have an abortion and went to such lengths had easy and affordable access. The late date of the “forced miscarriage” may indicate her inability to find anything else that she could and she just ran out of options.

It is clear that the general population no longer remembers when abortions were not available. When Roe v. Wade passed, so many of the supporters were doctors who saw this kind of desperate self mutilation come into their hospitals AFTER the fact. This is where we’re headed once again as the options narrow.

I hope that she is able to get good counsel regardless of the date – it’s clear that she was desperate – this case is as much a tragedy as it is (possibly) a crime.

And I hope we the tax payers don’t have to pay for her legal defence. Sounds like a pretty cut and dry case to me. And by the way . . .

– Tragedy.
When the feeling’s gone and you can’t go on.
It’s tragedy.
