Now that Finneran’s tainted, lobbyists are looking for another big gun with experience leading the legislature around by the nose …
The sudden departure of two highly paid trade association leaders is churning speculation on Beacon Hill that the groups are eyeing leading political figures, including Senate President Robert E. Travaglini, to fill the openings.
…Both political and healthcare sources said yesterday that Travaglini would be a heavy favorite to replace Ronald M. Hollander at the hospital association.
“It’s a perfect match for Trav,” said one healthcare source. “He is clearly an odds-on favorite to get that if he wants it.”
Perfect fit, indeed. Couldn’t have said it better myself. (To his credit, Travaglini saved the bacon of Cambridge Health Alliance and Boston Medical Center, two hospitals that drew heavily from the free care pool.)
Is this paragraph:
Because no one making less than $90,000 a year has ever had kids in college.
I doubt he’s really hurting for money. They may not be rich, but with at least one member of the family turning in a cool 90k a year, they can certainly afford to help their kids go to college.

It’s only a shame Trav didn’t have the forsight to fight the huge cuts in the UMASS system that have both made it FAR LESS affordable and left the schools in worse shape academically. Heck, before the cuts and with three kids, they may have even been eligible for financial aid. Let’s actually call it what it is – ironic.

Then again, I’m sure Trav isn’t the type who would let his kids go to one of those dasterdly public universities!
Trav out of the Senate makes my day brighter……would that it be so.
Wonder if he killed healthcare as a favor to his future bosses?

In any case were he to step aside at least a pro-marriage State Senator could step in, perhaps a State Senator Galluccio after three tries?

Of course. It’s also why Trav didn’t permit a vote on the safe staffing bill. He’ll be making more than his Senate salary very soon.
…the Globe reported that Trav was decrying his lack of income. That more than leads to the idea that Trav would become a lobbyist, while keeping his senate seat. As far as I can tell, there is nothing in the MA legislature’s ethics rules that would forbid the legislators from wearing both hats.

Yeah, Trav is a pig. He should resign from the legislature. But there is no mechanism that I know of that would require him to.
