As some of you have noticed, occasionally a user post is unrecommendable, in that the usually-prominent “Recommend” button is nowhere to be seen.
This problem results from a software glitch that the powers that be have not been able to repair. But it’s easy to avoid:
don’t save your posts as drafts.
That seems to be what causes it. If you save your post as a draft before publishing it, it will be unrecommendable when it goes public. So just do your best, and then publish. You can always edit your post later.
Please share widely!
I think you suggested this possibility months ago when we were discussing the same problem. At the time, I remember pointing out that this had happened to a couple of my posts, and I had not saved those posts as drafts. I’ve only once ever published a post I saved as a draft first (and that one did have a recommend button).

I avoid using the draft feature because the one time I did it, when I finished the post it still had the original draft’s datestamp, so it was treated as being older than several other posts. However, the times that I’ve had posts not have a recommend button, they were not drafts.
It was that pesky “work” thing that got in the way. I usually do a cut/paste in notepad to save it, but I noticed the draft feature.
I ahve never been able to figure that out. Not yet, anyway. But I truly appreciate having a place to listen and share. So any glitches are minor.
by going to your user page and clicking on the story you wish to edit, the edit link should be underneath the title.
Just click on your posting like you would to review the comments and the “Edit Diary” link should be underneath the title.
